There is a older gentleman who is retired in my community ,who used to be a full-time barber.
He has a little building by his house off an old dirt road , and he cuts hair on wednesdays since my wife isn't feeling the greatest today, I went to him today.
He only charges 5 bucks and he blocked the back and everything.
He put the sheet on me and everything.
Btw my wife thinks me posting about this is goofy.

I like going to old fashioned barber shops but even in small town,South AL, the old fashioned 4 and 5 dollar barbers are all about gone.
I ain't going to a beauty shop and paying 8 to 12 bucks to get my peach fuzz whacked.

Actually in our small town we have two small $4 shops with the pole and everything. That is were my dad goes....he has lots of thick hair!

That's interesting that they still have the poles.
Most don't know it but years ago ,many Barbers used to do blood letting with leaches and that's where the poles came from.

I knew a couple of guys where I worked who would go down to Vietnamese-town and have their haircut for $2.00. I always wondered if those girls where brought to this country for slave labor.
There is nothing worse than a bad haircut. I won't disclose what I pay for my haircut, but when I walk in I am greeted with a cold beverage, treated to green tea facial while getting a neck and scalp massage before I sit in the chair. I am usually pretty thrifty, but I don't mind paying a little extra for a good cut and lots of attention.
