I would say it like this myself...

Dresses and skirts can be just as immodest as pants.

Ain't that the truth. I have seen some things even at conference, or maybe especially at, that if you just cut 6" off the length the dear sister would fit in just fine on any street corner in LA or Vegas.

Does this mean that you believe this scripture to be true? If so, where does this scripture mention a dress code for salvation?

(I do NOT mean any disrespect either. I am still in the throughs of decision on this matter.)

I think the basic premise boils around this.

There is one way to be saved...many ways to be lost.

What is backsliding? Is backsliding no longer caring what God thinks? If so, that doesn't apply to me. I am extremely concerned about pleasing God. I pray every day for God to draw me closer to Him. But I'm still questioning our traditional standards, because I can't find them in God's word.

Where does the Bible say that people will be able to tell by glancing at us whether or not we are Christian? I can go to Walmart, and someone can glance at me and immediately know that I'm Pentecostal. It happens to me all the time. But does that mean I'm truly a Christian? Underneath this garb, I could be a cheater, an adulteress, a liar. They'll know I'm a Christian by my fruit, by my love.

And I still want to know how people 200 years ago were "separate from the world". They looked exactly like everyone around them. An atheist woman would have had a floor-length skirt, long sleeves, and a bun hairdo. How was the church "separate" then? You couldn't walk into "The General Store" then and spot a Christian right off by glancing at them.

Re: Your experience when you dropped "dress standa

I want the world to see a difference in me-- but the clothes I am wearing or not wearing should not be the most prominent difference.

Just looking the part doesn't do anything to bring meaningful change to the lives of others around you.

But if your heart is right, God can use you regardless of the clothes you're wearing or not wearing.

Let me clarify, regardless within reason-- tasteless is still tasteless and salvation is not needed for a person to have common sense.

John 13:35
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
It doesn't matter how you dress if you're not loving to others, including others who count Christ as Lord but don't think like you.

I believe in modesty... but "clothes line preaching" is preached opinion of man.
