The counselor tells Aquila that they both have theological differences? Why was that important to the counselor? I can see a patient asking that question, but the counselor? That should be a strong point to consider, because obviously the counselor believed it to have some importance in the session? In the first meeting he asked me to tell him a little about myself and why I requested a Christian counselor. Which led to a brief discussion about my being Apostolic. I mentioned that I'd prefer an Apostolic Pentecostal counselor, and he admitted that he was aware of some of the theological differences.

Pyschiatric care not for every vet with PTSD? But a pastor is supposed to regulate and watch a saints behavior?

I'd not insist counseling unless significant symptoms continued after prayer. And even then, I'd recommend it, insisting or pushing someone into counseling defeats the purpose. They must want counseling.

I'm only saying that it wouldn't hurt if more pastors understood the signs of PTSD, seeing that so many troops are coming home.

The minute saint shows signs of "extreme" PTSD he or she need to be directed to the headshrinker? I'll tell you Brother Burk if the Apostolic movement has degenerated into this sort of mess, then you can stick a fork in it. Because it is as done as the dinner dishes.

A vet can choose to commit suicide or may harm someone during or within minutes of a severe PTSD attack. If you don't want someone walking out and blowing their head off in the church parking lot, or coming back in to the church to blow the head off some ignorant blowhard pastor in the middle of the service, it might help to know the signs of PTSD. It might be wise to let them know you support counseling and are there to actually help them get more immediate help for their symptoms as they continue to seek Jesus for total healing.

This is a matter of life and death. Only the most ignorant of people would play religion with people's lives when dealing with a trained killer with PTSD.
