Sowders taught the Jehovah Witness view of the Godhead that there are two Gods that is their terminology not mine. Jehovah is God senior and Jesus is God junior. Jesus was Micheal the archangel before Bethlehem.
They claim to baptize in Jesus Name however their view is quite different they teach all organizations are part of Babylon therefore they do not baptize in Jesus Name only the Body of Christ(which is them)can baptize in Jesus Name although they may baptize and say nothing. Or I saw one baptize a convert in "the name of heaven once?"
They also teach(mostly not all)
No Hell

Perfection to the extent to be perfect no physical relations with their companions,(not many have reached this )
The truth is being restored.
The devil is the flesh there is not an evil spirit in opposition to God only the carnal mind.
Sex was the sin in the garden that Eve committed with her husband!
and many other absurd teachings.

We have a primarily African American church in Lake Charles that follows many of the Sowderite teachings. I have visited and they seem traditional until you begin to hear them addressing Jesus the son separate and apart from God Almighty.

very sad...They were always and sure they still are such nice folks. I haven´t seen them in many years...I spoke at their church when I was about 17 years old in Bastrop...
I still love them though have not seen them for years and it saddens me he no longer believes Jesus is God....if I understand right...I will go back and read the material when I have time.
Such good people and such good singers.

The name sounds familiar, but I can't say I know them. Paw Paw Guidroz had his thumb on the pulse of the Pentecostal movement and he was one tough cookie. Hard worker and zealout for reaching souls with the Pentecostal message. (But he didn't like majoring on the minors.)
There was some discussion of other organizations, especially, "free Pentecost" groups. There were two "free Pentecost" families who lived on the same street as my g-parents. But "free" didn't necessarily mean women wearing pants, tons of make-up, jewelry. They wore gauchos when we jumped on the trampoline, their mom still wore her hair up or down and long (trimmed), and she wore minimal make-up and minimal jewelry (no ear rings).
Paw Paw and Maw Maw didn't want us to fellowship too much with them. Didn't say we couldn't go play with them, but we could tell they didn't approve...

Very much the same, Sis. Alvear! Definitely the son of God but not God manifested in the flesh. A perfect man but never God.

I guess I have not seen the posts that say Jesus is not God.

I am a firm believer in the Old Paths
Articles on such subjects as "The New Birth," will be accepted, whether they teach that the new birth takes place before baptism in water and Spirit, or that the new birth consists of baptism of water and Spirit. - THE PENTECOSTAL HERALD Dec. 1945
"It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves

This is what I love about AFF...gets me digging in the Word and pulling out my Systematic Theology notes and studying text books...
I have DB's book from my days in JCM and CLC. So blessed to study under two great Pentecostal theologians: David Bernard and Daniel Segraves.

His name is the only name whereby mankind can be saved. He has been anointed, appointed, approved, empowered and ordained to build a kingdom, which he will reign over on Planet Earth for 1000 years, before he lays it at the feet of God our Father ( I Cor. 15:24-28; Rev. 20:4-7) .
But Jesus is not a human incarnation of Almighty God as the Oneness teach, nor an incarnation of God the Son, second person of a triune God, a pre-existent being, as millions of Trinitarians believe.

To borrow a gambling analogy a la Tim Landry, I think he took a "Chance" on the "don't come line"!
