The only rules that ought to be concrete are the ones that come directly from the Word...oh wait...those rules should be the principles that determine all the other rules....hmmmm...did I say that right?

...another cup of coffee for me, I see....
Hmmmm....did we just say kind of the same thing, a little?

My coffee hasn't kicked in yet either.

Okay, I'm going to take this further.

For years we, in the UPC, have been labeled as a cult by a bunch of papists for two reasons.

1. Our stance on distinctives such as the essentiality of baptism and Holy Ghost infilling.

2. Our outward holiness standards.

I categorically reject those claims. They are baseless and unlearned charges.

With that being said, these fringe groups play into the hands of papists who claim "cult, cult" at every turn. A borg mentality permeates every action and reaction. Questions are viewed as rebellion and sinful.

I am saying that some are feeding the fire for those that want to lay the charge of "cult" on us.

1. Man-made religious laws that must be followed so that your love for the church and God will not be questioned.

2. Rejecting brothers who believe your same core doctrine because they will not follow your personal convictions.

Well, since you put it that way, I'd say we are in agreement, as usual.

I. This is cultic.

2. This is just stoopid.

Love ya Ferd, but I disagree with you.

I am not demanding that everyone follow my belief system.

I am not demanding that if someone disagrees with me on just one little issue they are liars, and lost.

I am not continually looking for ways to keep people out of the fellowship.

There is a huge difference between the ideologies here.
One asks for openness and dialogue, the other demands conformity.
