Side rooms designated for prayer, or alternative services altogether were set up for those who needed to scratch their Pentecostal itch. This progressive slide into purposeful seekerism, accompanied by the relentless quest for audience approval ratings has caused many to push the Holy Spirit into the back rooms of the church; or out of it altogether. Our young generation of ministers is learning all too well that the “old paths” are not considered relevant to meeting the felt needs of today’s emerging crowd.
What is described here is where the apostolic church is headed. I give it 30 years max.

I don't know about now,but used to if one desired credentials with the AG one had to have the Holy Ghost with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues to hold their license.
I think too one had to have the Holy Ghost to be a member of one of their local assemblies as well.

As evidenced by Pauls teaching everyone might speak in tongues at the same time - but PAUL WOULD PUT A STOP TO IT.
Oh gotcha. I was thinking about tongues and interpretation. The "seeker" rooms are for those wanting to receive the Holy Ghost.

There are some who are trying to take us there... but we'll be fighting it tooth-and-nail, all the way. I'll never be a member of any assembly where that stuff is taking place, thats for sure!

At times I have wondered how much tongues-and-interpretation takes place in AG churches.

Bro.

You would be suprised. There is an AOG church in my city that has tongues and interpretation/prophecy on a regular basis. They take it serious to because they allow that to aid in the direction of their church.

I think that this lack of Holy Ghost baptism is primarily taking place in the churches that are trying to please the crowds and not be vocal about the baptism.

No real problem exists over the use of "The Name" in everthing else done in the Church. Why then should there exist great controversy over the use of the "The Name of the Godhead" in water baptism?

Re: AGs will debate Tongues at the next GC

When I was a kid I attended a Trinity church that was doctrinally the same as the AOG.
What we were taught one was that one could be saved without having the baptism of the Holy Ghost, but one couldn't be an effective witness without it.
It was taught all believers are supposed to have The Holy Ghost baptism.
It was highly stressed.
It was sort of considered an apex of Christian experience if you will.

My experience with the AOG is from when I was a child. My mom's best friend was AOG and her husband was a preacher. We are Oneness, they discussed but never argued scripture. In some of the services at their church's revivals there were tongues and interpretation.
