Re: Getting to know you

Well, lets see.
I spent the first 30 years of my life in the Wausau (Central) Wisconsin area. A no mans land where the majority of "restaurants" are McDonald's and a couple of Burger Kings, Hardys (Carl's Jr out here in Arizona), and Taco Bells. Tony Roma's and ONE Applebees is about the best of the "high end". (Although there IS a place called Pine Wood Supper Club which is a bit on the expensive side but nearly unmatched -anywhere!)
Oh yes, bars bars and more bars! But from the land of "Da Yoopers!" what can you expect?

I graduated in 92 from North Central Technical College with my degree in computer programming in 92 (High School in 88) and milked it for a few years in semi-computer related jobs such as three years as store manager for Wausau's Software Etc, computer store.

I met my wife online about 5 1/2 years ago -which is a story all its own, and were married just 5 months later in Vegas. THAT was a sight in and of itself.... all these conservative relatives and church decons walking through the MGM Grand's casino on our way from the chapel to the Rainforest Cafe where we had our reception.
Our 5th anniversary is coming up this May already.
Once we were married I moved to the South side of Portage (the tiny town of Poynette) just North of Madison. Gail continued school in Pharmacy at the UW Madison and I got another degree in Computer Networking/Security from Herzing college, also in Madison.

While living there we took a couple of trips to visit my grandma here in AZ and fell in love with it. We both agreed that THIS is where we wanted to live and a month after she finished (I had finished just a few weeks before her -great timing), we were here doing our final house hunting and bought our house (ANOTHER long story, some of which I shared here last Spring).

We have been to several churches since we moved but have not found one we would like to call our home church yet. Part of the problem is that there are many large/mega churches but very few of the smaller ones (under 2 or 3 hundred) that we are used to. The problem wit a BIG church is that you feel like you could go for 10 years, stop going, and no one would miss you. We also both feel that the HUGE amounts of money going into the building, lighting, and sound systems could be MUCH better spent in the missions field.

As far as being used in church, I would love to use my computer skills, as feeble as they are.

I love computers (when I am not drop kicking them through the window) as well as photography, aquariums, hiking (another great reason to live here!), as well as a few other things.

If you've seen our web site you know that our "children" are our dogs. We started out with Jake, then bought Hermes the border collie. Jake died late last yet (07) and once we moved we bought Rocky (officially named Rocket J), another Lhasa. We also successfully made the cross country move with a whole aquarium of fish and Buz, our cockatiel.

Re: Getting to know you

I live in Plainwell, MI and I like it most of the time. Right now I just wish I was someplace warmer.

I am married for the second time and we will celebrate our 10th anniversary in July.

My husband and I are nurses and we met while working in a nursing home. Our wedding was small and held in my parents backyard. Since we'd both been married before and share an interest in antiques we deciided to do something different and wear costumes from the early 1900's.

I used to make up the church bulletin but stopped a year or more ago. It's been months since my husband and I have been to church but we still continue to hold a Bible study at the senior apartment building where my father-in-law lives.

I enjoy reading and I enjoy my job of working in the long term acute care unit of our small town hospital. My husband and I also watch two of our four grandkids 2-3 days a week.

Then he moved down south and then I thoiught to Bloomington, IN.

I will find out...

I want to move to another state in Brazil to pioneer one more area but I don´t know if our bodies can take it! I love to start new works.
I love to study Jewish history and teach those that are interested anything I might know. I love to share information.
My husband and I met in Brazil at a church conference! The first time he saw me he walked up to me and said he was going to marry me! I told him I didn´t know so much about that...he told me to pray that he did not need to pray about it for the Lord spoke to him I would be his wife...lol...6 months later (1972) we were married!
We are complete opposites! I could live in a jungle, sleep in a hammock and be happy...he likes his good bed and the big cities...He is a wonderful singer and musician and I could not tell you the difference in c or d...
I love to study, do research, and write letters...if he wants something researched he just tells me to do it for him!
I don´t have to have a lot of sleep...he needs his 8 hours if possible.
He is level headed, kind, slow to anger, forgives without carrying a grudge, has worlds of patience, sees good in about everybody, likes his things in perfect order...

His desk looks ready for a president to sit down well....my desk is clean but not always in order...
If he hears a noise he locks the house...(See he has good sense) I run outside to see what is going on! lol...
He won´t touch a gun but let me have one!
I love to camp out he had rather relax in a hotel somewhere...
We both enjoy traveling.
I am not a shopper...He loves to shop!
He is more settled and I love adventure!
He would be happy to have a service, sing from the song book and bring a sermon...
I like new things (ducking at this moment) gesture choirs, sign choirs, lights, plays, skits or whatever as long as it is done in sincerity to glorify Jesus.
I might forget to pay the light bill to buy a box of food for some hungry family…he would pay the light bill first…
Several times our young people from different churches have written plays and act out our life as comedy!
Oh, yeah I love AFF but if he does go on a forum it is CAF…
So long live our differences of choices that is probably what makes us so happy!
We admire each other!

We both like people...enjoy church and love the Lord.
I've enjoyed all of the posts on here, but especially this one.

I have to say that I identify more with your husband than I do with you, Sis A! LOL
