If pants are not modest on women, then they are not modest on men either.
I'm not understanding how men can justify going from a dress-like garment to wearing pants, but balk about a woman doing the same and considering her to be immodest. History tells us that when men started wearing pants, they were not only considered to be immodest, but unmanly as well!! Isn't it great that we lost that way of thinking a while back? Or did we??

I read the paper and for the most part it seems it is more of a polemic than an apology or objective position. He broadstrokes quite a bit in here and he isn't consistent in his application of cultural context in his hermeneutic, and in some of his exegesis he misses the context of key passages altogether interpreting the passage from an eisegetical pov rather than do what he says we should do and start from the basis of authorial intent.

Revrandy it is the doctrine that will be next.
Aquila, why would your wife after her years of not cutting her hair decide to?
It was down to her mid-thighs and was just too long and too unmanageable. It was freakishly long and thick. It was getting caught in everything from hotel room doors, car doors, children’s toys, once she had it caught in the vacuum cleaner, and even set it on fire twice while lighting candles. After a while it just got to be ridiculous. She was fed up with it and I was tired of laying on it and it being in everything. I was also growing weary of how insecure she was about it. It was really affecting her self esteem. It added nearly 10 years to her appearance. I felt like it just seemed “extreme”. So I began studying the passage in greater depth (I Corinthians 11) and realized that the passage was never intended to teach what we think it teaches. Paul was addressing a specific issue regarding veils and comparing them to social norms among the Corinthians. We prayed about it and we felt the Lord release her to get her hair cut. She dedicated it to Locks of Love for cancer patients.
Sadly, our church will most likely never see us as being “in good standing” because of this. But it was just too much. She was miserable with it and I love my wife too much to demand that she be miserable to honor a tradition based on a misguided interpretation of Scripture.

I agree, one can dress within UPCI modesty standards without looking like she's in the 50's. But it seemed to be the hair that throws the appearance over the top a lot of times.

See above post.
Does she feel like a sinner for coming to church in pants?
Does she feel her own condemnation than that of the church?
I really like the wording "automatically"...
Countless of the souls we have lost will be balanced by who we have won...
given that all churches are different, different personalities and mentalities of Leadership will all have an affect on the church...in any denomination...
