"How Great is Our god"- since the GOD referred to here is trinity since the song goes, "The godhead three in one- father, spirit, son." I could not understand why oneness folk would want to sing that and possibly cause confusion to those weaker in the faith or to visitors.
"I am a Friend of GOD"- overused in my old UPC church, luckily never sung in the assembly I currently attend, which sings a lot of charismatic crunchy-chewy songs, which I like a lot!

Oh, you mean "How Great are our Gods"? Yeah, I don't blame ya!

LOL! Should we also discourage reading 1 John 5:7?
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
I understand going to great length to preserve our traditions... but come on!

I have no issue with the way the song is worded. This is why a lot of people are confused and wrongly label pentecostals/apostolics as "Jesus Only." It's because a lot of us get antsy and uncomfortable when talking about the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
It's in the Bible folks ... King James Version, too.

You know things have been taken way too far when you start censuring the bible itself in order to further your own doctrine.

Alex, i have no problem with he words to this beuatiful moving song. Even sung in the presence of new converts.
If you are so hung up on biblical language like this, simply change it to, "The Godhead he is one, Father spirit son"
You also might want to shy away from reading out of the Epistles in your church.
Most of them contain very confusing trinitariian language like: "Greetings from God our Father AND the Lord Jesus Christ"

"Satan the Blood of Jesus is against you..." from "Give God the Glory" - Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. Used to sing that song to death back in the day.
There was some song making the rounds a few years ago ... don't remember all the words, just remember the irritating chorus "Leap for joy" repeated about a zillion times. I called it the Richard Simmons UPC Workout Song. "Clap your hands, stomp your feet, wave your hands, leap for joy."
There are two songs I know that have good verses, but the chorus' to these songs are just total letdowns and ruin the song. It's as though the songwriter got writers block after writing the verses and just decided, "hey, why don't I just use one line over and over again and call it the chorus."
"Trading My Sorrows" and "I Know Who I Am" - both songs have decent verses (and the church here loves them) but the chorus' are just incredibly terrible.
I haven't read the whole thread, so I'm not sure if someone's mentioned it, but the 20,000 "Yes, Lord's" in Trading My Sorrow makes me want to give up entirely.

This is a gem that I found a while ago. As open as I try to be to Christian music, I just didn't get this song at all.

Father, Spirit, Son is BIBLICAL folks. Does that not matter?
Have you also changed "Amazing Grace!" to "Amazing Race!"?
