Oh, It shall be Light in the evening time,
the path to glory you will surely find
In the water way. Is the Light today
Baptized in Jesus Name

Young and old, repent of all your sins
The Holy Ghost will surely enter in.
The evening Light has come.
It is a fact, that God and Christ are One.

On the subject of the PCI. I grew up in what I have recently found out was a PCI church. It is the church that A.T. Morgan and G. L. Glass Sr. are from.

ON NFCF we had a very in depth discussion about the very real possiblitly that G. L Glass SR (Papa George) was PCI in doctrine as well as PCI in affilitation.

I have personally talked with his son who was at one point also my pastor about this and he does not know if Papa George was PCI in doctrine.

GLGJR is what one would call PCI now.

Back to the story. Papa George was often cornered by strong PAJC men who would ask him if he believed that a person could go to heaven without speaking in tongues.

Papa George ALWAYS responded (and I remember hearing this as a kid) "Brother, I dont know why anyone would WANT to go to heaven without speaking in tongues"

I trace my heritage back to Papa George. He had a very direct impact on my family. he was our famlies pastor, and in retirement was the bishop of our church before we had "bishops".

I am decidedly PAJC in doctrine I suppose because of Papa George's preaching the importance of having the Holy Ghost.

I dont know what he was: "PCI" or "PAJC"

But I do agree with him on point. I dont know why anyone would WANT to go to heaven without the Holy Ghost. I dont even know what anyone would WANT to argue about it.

Ferd the overwhelming majority of PCI men preached Acts 2:38 so fervently outsiders did not know the difference. If you had been a a revival type service and a PCI preacher or a PAJC took turns you would have NEVER detected the difference. NOw if you got into a conversation with them yes you probably would but the preaching was same.

I know brother Epley. To me that is the really great point. Papa George may have been PCI or PAJC. it didnt matter and doesnt matter because at the end of the day the result is the same. ALL of Acts 2:38.

excellent message; more "right on" about Christian living than many messages i've heard.... regardless, i agree with CS and others who made the observation that the New Birth message was not declared or acknowledged....

What is it about people that is all they are concered with. The fact is that the guy is looking God's way. God is bringing him and others to this great place. Repentance. That is first step. The "new birth" message does not always have to be mentioned for it to be a great message. Infact, my top three messages have nothing to do with doctrine. There are problems we face in life that talking in tongues can not fix. That is the problems with some of the ministers and ministries is that they say, "you gotta problem? Speak and tongues and it will go away." That is crazy thinking.

looking God's way and walking God's way are two different things.... "looking" implies intent while "walking" is actual focused action(s).... repentance is a GREAT place to start, but it isn't the final step.... and until the entire New Birth experience is manifested in his life, he's lost.... no "ifs" about it....

that doesn't detract from his message any though.... great message....

You have put it very well. He is not looking so much as walking toward God. The thing is he is not preaching about salvation, but repentance. At the time he preached that message he did not have the revelation of what Acts 2:38 can do. He may not even know now, but I am sure he has heard the doctrine we preach. But I can tell you that it seems that his heart is in the right place.

I don't disagree with that at all....

I pray that someone is able to share the New Birth message with him, and that his "heart" will lead him unto Christ.... i personally feel that there are many Apollos' that walk among us that need the truths of the Word of God expounded until them....
