Re: Have You Done ML Marketing?

I haven't seen a church push a MLM plan in a long while. That's good.

I know and understand my complete and total inability to sell things so I generally don't get involved.

I did get involved in Excel communications because they offered unlimited long distance when that was unheard of. I figured... hey... even a person who couldn't sell blankets to eskimo's can sell that.

But... it is amazing how many people would rather keep paying high long distance bills than make a change. Also... I can't sell. LOL.

I think I probably broke even or had a loss... I definitely didn't make any money.

Then the company went bankrupt and everybody with all those big downlines lost all of it. Man I would have been upset although if I could make the money they made for just a few months I would have made use of it and gotten out of debt. Man... I just need one good break to finish getting out of debt. LOL

Then the big boys started offering unlimited long distance. Game over.

G-12 is a MLM model of church growth.
everyt one is expected to start a cell of 12 and each of the 12 are expected to do the same. The church claims over 550,000 members

Re: Have You Done ML Marketing?

I did Excel also! You are right. I thought..."surely people will jump on the boat to get unlimited Long Distance and cheaper rates". Wow was I wrong. Everyone I asked said they would rather stick with the provider they had...paying higher rates and paying for expensive long distance.

Ugh.

I attempted to sell Rainbow Vacs for about 2 weeks part time. It was sort of a MLM deal. I didn't sell any, but...I got a Rainbow out of it. And it IS the greatest Vacuum cleaner I have ever seen/used!

Yes

No

Excel (at the time, around 10-12 years ago it was, had a competitive product (long distance phone service) with good pricing and good payout structure. I know personally a number of people who did well, a couple who did VERY WELL, as in $5000 checks every other day well.

I made a total of around $800 after expenses. This is do to the fact that I am not a go getter with this kind of thing and am not willing to alienate friends family, acquaintances, people I don't even know and etc with this kindof thing.

The fact that I could make near a thousand bucks without any real effort is a testament to that particular program, which I do believe no longer exists.

I am not anti people who do this stuff, and if they want to I am supportive of their efforts to do better, as long as I don't have to do it.

I believe one of the unpardonable sins is to try to sign up someone for Melaleuca or that juice stuff at church!
Or to sell peanut brittle.

I do know someone who is kind of comical with (sc)Amway. He uses churches deliberately. HE will visit a few times, ingratiate himself, make a few "friends", then hit them with the dreaded "meeting". He usually gets run off. He has been doing this for years with 0% success yet he keeps doing it. It is fascinating really. I would have thought he would have run out of churches in CT by now and had to brnch into New York and Massachusetts...

Re: Have You Done ML Marketing?

I don't like anything MLM - - I just want to say like someone else said.....go get a real job.

Same thing as all the "parties" for candles, etc. You feel obligated to go and everything is high-priced. You can ruin some good relationships trying to make a few extra $$'s.

Howdy fellow ex Excel-er.

I think Excel was a good opportunity. They, IMO, are the reason you can buy unlimited long distance from the big phone companies.

But, again, I was totally amazed at the people who would literally rather pay more money... much more money... every month... than change phone companies.

It was quite an eye opening experience
