I have always done this for the past 20 years. This year, I thought I wanted a change, since I have a new tree.
This one looks pretty, but I'm disappointed in it. The more I think about it, I'm not sure if I want to get snowmen to add to it or pull the boxes of ornaments back out of the attic and just add some of the ornaments I've used for years.

Re: Alright....HELP!!!
LCS, I saw a white tree with all red ornaments and it was beautiful. Go for it!

When I was a kid we would get an ornament in our Christmas Stocking every year. (actually we still get one every year, LOL) When we got old enough, my Stepmom gave us each a box of all our ornaments we had gotten over the years. It just wouldn't seem like Christmas without all my ornaments on the tree!

I know people who do this.. it is a really neat thing to do. I've actually wished I had done something like that... but my kids have never had an imput in what our trees looked like. Oh, they've tried over the years... but I'm pretty stubborn. I now wish I had though.. at least made one tree for them.
I think I like the themed trees because I love to decorate, create things, so I just get stuck making things match and coordinate.
I must not be sentimental in that way. I do not like old things... at all. I don't like heavy, gold or old traditional stuff... I don't have any pictures of family up, but I do love my family. lol I don't keep a lot of sentimental things around.
I have to match, so if it is old and doesn't match... it is gone. That is one things that people say about my home... each room is color coordinated and matches...and most rooms have a theme to it. My living room is sorta folk art because I have Americana stuff.... fading most of it out, but still have some things I love. But I am not that in every room... I think every room has a different flavor. My main bathroom is black/white w/ hot colors... very bright.
I love to decorate, and I am gifted in it, but I am not like Pressing on who leans more traditional to me. I actually like some modern or artsy styles and that is why I guess I just LOVE lime green for a Christmas tree.

Re: Alright....HELP!!!
Just look at the "diversity" among us with our Christmas trees.
From those who are against them to those of us who enjoy them and for those who enjoy them how many different ways we do them.

Re: Alright....HELP!!!
Hey, does anybody have that picture from a previous year of LCS lying on the floor worshiping her tree? Now would be a good time to post it.

Every time I take a decorating test, I fall into the traditional or classic categories. I never fall into contemporary. LOL!

I can see that, and you are very gifted! Your style reminds me a lot of my sister’s, and she is also a very talented decorator. She used to be paid $3K a house to decorate for Christmas and that was not extensive, just usually fireplace, tree and front window area, she made a lot of money at Christmas season. (that was 10 years ago too) Another sister was a florist before becoming a broker. Between these two sisters, I was taught the art of bow and wreath making. God chose to gift my family with an artistic flair for decorating. The beauty of our surroundings were evidently emphasized growing up, there is a love for color and coordinating. You can not look at the beautiful building that my father designed and built as the church he pastored and not see the ability.
The diversity in each of our styles is interesting. It ranges from the old and antique to more traditional to the very modern, and I am some what in the middle of that traditional – modern stage. For whatever reason, right now I am on a “toy/workshop” kick. My desk/area at work is done in that… and I will always love snowmen at Christmas.
I enjoy seeing all the pictures you post at Christmas and throughout the year. I can’t always post during the day, but find them interesting to view.
I will say that I really truly do regret not utilizing all those little ornaments my kids made growing up…. they are neatly packed away in a bucket w/each of their names on it, along with everything else they’ve made me in school.
