No, I didn't.

Did you post on that thread? If not, I wasn't talking about you.

Yes you did lie. Did I post on WHAT thread?

Don't lie about this forum and the Admin.

Let it be understood that Apostolic Friends Forum is an Apostolic Forum.
Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

No, I didn't.

How can you even intelligently discuss this if you haven't read the thread in question?

Prax, this is what he said:

"...every admin that participated defended Trinitarianism and actively posted against Oneness doctrine."

If you didn't participate in the thread, it doesn't apply to you.

EA, I can agree on point one, but not point 2. Most of the people here do defend trinitarianism, but only some of them post arguing against traditional oneness doctrine. I didn't find the admins particularly bashing oneness doctrine, so much as indicating that they tolerate trinitarianism in their own lives. It's possible I'm not clear on who's an admin and who's not--I'm only thinking of CC1 and Renda at this point.

Look, I feel your pain. It saddens me to see people who don't feel that some beliefs are worth sticking up for. It would be unimaginably sad for me if my children were baptized in a trinitarian church in the titles rather than in Jesus' name. SO many people who post here don't believe that matters and would consider my potential "sadness" laughable. It's sad, IMO, that people don't feel they can understand the Godhead. So strongly do they feel that way, in fact, that they will nigh call any man a liar who states that he does understand it. That or call him pompous and arrogant for saying so. It saddens me that anyone would actively search for a church that doesn't believe in speaking in tongues. It baffles me that so many proclaim they've never met a trinitarian who believes in three gods when I've met quite a few who state it strongly. You would think, from a statistical point of view, that the few I've met would be representative of many more who share the same POV. Maybe, when you immerse yourself in a community of believers, you lose objectivity and fail to see faults for what they are.

The Apostolic church has been guilty of that as well. Right now we're seeing major flaws being molded into signatures of our "Identity." We're now developing a distinct culture for the very sake of it, and not because we're trying to walk In His Steps. I find that to be incredibly sad, too. I had WAY more respect for my Dad and people like him who truly believed you would go to hell for putting on an earring, and would just bluntly state it as such. When they preached it, they were doing it out of a concern for people's souls. I can appreciate and even admire that. The philosophizers today are educated enough to KNOW that they don't have the Word to stand on many of The Issues, so they're repackaging the traditions in a new way that is hypocritical, manipulative and deceitful. It's a tough pill to swallow, quite frankly.

Anyway...this is not the FCF anymore, that's for sure. The only way to enjoy the AFF is to appreciate it for what it is. What it IS is a place where you can talk about controversial topics without too much fear of reprisal from members. When I was growing up, I had NO one to talk to, really, about my questions about hair, jewelry, Christmas, make-up, skirts vs. pants, etc. It wasn't until I was well into my 20's that I sorted those things out for myself--and now that my girls are getting older, I'm trying to help them sort things out before they leave home. Hopefully that won't leave them feeling some confusion and disillusionment in their 20's and beyond.

What the AFF is NOT is an "amen corner" for old-time Pentecost. That's just a fact. If you're going to participate, you really have to shut out the things (read: people) that drive you crazy.

I'm just saying. If you're a member of the forum, you have to decide what works for you, and if the conversations themselves are overwhelmingly frustrating--I understand that. Philippians 4:8, EA. If it's not lifting you up, let it go. That applies to anything in life, including this forum. In times of confusion and frustration, it doesn't help to shut everything else out. It only helps to shut yourself IN with God.

God is not the author of confusion. Spend time with Him, and you'll have peace and clarity. And rest assured--I have no problem leaving this forum completely if it brings me confusion and angst instead of peace.

Like what? There are no real alternatives, especially "free thinking" forums.

AFF has become a place that actively mocks my beliefs. On the most recent thread I started, every admin that participated defended Trinitarianism and actively posted against Oneness doctrine.

Again, this place is now enemy territory. It exists solely to tear down basic doctrinal truths.

This thread will be removed, I'm quite sure.
