I want SO badly to pretend that I know what on earth you guys are talking about, but I am CLUELESS! (I'm sure it's Star Wars related or something of that ilk).
I bought the first three Star Wars movies for my 8 year old son for Christmas. Obviously, I need to watch them with him so I can be up on the lingo, and be able to tell one spaceship from another.
This morning, I was drinking my coffee and staring out into the back yard at our apple trees. A few crows lit on the branches, so of course I was thinking about this thread. Suddenly, one of the birds dropped straight down to the ground and my stomach dropped with it...only to see it land normally and start bobbing around in the dirt. I was relieved and then feeling a little silly that I thought the bird was falling out of the tree--dead!

Actually, we're using Star Trek lingo, not Star Wars. Randy posted a pic from one of the Star Trek Movies (Voyage Home) and the term disrupters describes weapons used by the Klingons and Romulans. Just having a little fun.

In the winter time, crows or black birds cover the trees on our land. Someone will go out and shoot a shotgun into the air, they just sit there. So I am not buying the startled theory. Sometimes they look like they are doing a nose dive to the ground. Now I will be thinking just like you.
