Hooveman, you don't know what you're missing! I sang in a black gospel choir in Europe with a PAW minister as the song director in the mid-70s. It was nearly a life-altering experience for me. I joked about being the "token white" in the choir. We sang all over Germany, were on AFN radio. It was in that choir that I learned rythm, played tambourines, with and without skin, and attempted to sing tenor.
I will confess that I haven't had much exposure to that environment since moving out to the Northwest many years ago.
