They already had about 14 children before they became "famous."

Yes!
With all the stupid people having children in the world, you would think a family like the Duggars would be a welcome thing to everyone. Helps to balance out the bad ones.

Re: Oh Lord, help them.....
Hey, I'm all for their right to have as many as they want (barring becoming a too much of a burden on those of us who pay taxes), just as I am all for MY right to have as few as I want.
So why am I punished by being forced to claim zero on my tax form and they are allowed to claim whatever ungodly number they claim? (And yes, if I had 16 kids I would claim 16 deductions as well if allowed.....)
As far as the octomom goes, she needs to be sterilized (and I believe the fertility doctor did lose his license finally). I am sure we have not heard the last of her as far as becoming pregnant again.... and again....

Why do you claim zero?
Do you have no dependents?

Re: Oh Lord, help them.....
My doctor strongly advised me after my 9th pregnancy to stop having children. For my health, I was approaching 40. Michelle Duggar is approaching 50.

I have a 15 year old son, but he has never lived with me. Actually, between my wife and I we claim 1, and still pay in a ton at the end of the year.

Right now she is in the 70-80% likely range for having a child with Downs. The odds skyrocket once you hit the mid 40's.

Re: Oh Lord, help them.....
According to their family website, the oldest son, Josh, owns a car dealership in Springdale, AR, not far from where they live. After pinpointing the address of it online, I just realized we passed right in front of it on our way to Eureka Springs last summer. Of course, I had no idea there was a connection to the Duggar family.
Next time I'm driving through, I'll try to look for it...

What if someone has a long family history of diabetes or depression or Down's syndrome? Should they just decide not to have any children?
