Re: Question on standards
this is the way i see it i prayed for truth and the lord led me to an apostolic jesus name church filled with the holy ghost spoke in tongues etc the women there wore skirts i personally wore pants they didnt cut there hair but i did there was a reason god sent me there, why would i be sent there to follow a message but not to obey standards maybe the problem is within me,who cares what society thinks only what god thinks matters, god spoke to me one day when i was backslid for several years and god said to me you know its wrong to be wearing those pants tols me 3 times now maybe its just me god wants to wear skirts i dont know but i didnt think god was a respecter of persons bottom line i think people need to pray and ask god what he thinks and forget someones personnel opinion beings it doesnt matter anyways but then again if some did pray they may not like the answer, people who want everything he is will seek him with all there heart and do what he wants them to regardless of what it cost imho

But let's be fair here how can we take one scripture out of DEUT. 22 and use it for our purposes and leave the rest of verses in that chapter alone ?
Of course Christian men and woman are to be modest in dress, and live a lifestyle of submission to The Lordship of Christ. But how many men buy their pants from a women's department in a store ?
Also if we offend in one point of the law we break it all.
So what about everything in DEUT. 22 ?

Re: Question on standards
was just wondering just how many women out there are willing to pray and ask god for what he expects us to wear, remenber the bible says ask and you shall recieve just saying, and just because the world does not think a woman looks masculine in a pair of pants doesnt mean god sees it the same way his ways are not our ways and his thoughts are not our thoughts

now on a serious note...that is good advice...we should pray about everything....especially all that money that is spent on shoes, bows, purses and perfume....and all that stuff we call the Pentecostal array....

Re: Question on standards
Ulp. I really am entirely to heavy to be seen in pink anything (and I can not stand the color), I lace is pretty, but not on me, and I positively refuse to have anything much to do with purple, especially that much purple.
I will therefore divide the purple into blue and red, I shall wear a black shirt, red t-shirt, and blue jeans, and then for church it will be a black suit, white shirt, and possibly a purple tie. No more than that.
That image makes me shudder, have chills, and wish to collapse into a coma. I would not wish that outfit on my worst enemy.

I lived in poverty most of my life. I mainly did not have enough clothes to change out everyday for a week. I washed what I had and wore them several times a week.
When I first started going to UPC, I had one dress to my name and one pair of shoes. I went to yard sales and bought more dresses. If I got more clothes, they were out of style hand-me-downs. Nothing wrong with that and I did not care. I considered everything that was given to me to be a blessing from the Lord.
Still, I never had an abundance of clothes.
Once there was a country girl that came to visit our church. One sister, whom everybody considered to be "spiritual" was talking about that country girls shoes. She said she was talking to her and when she looked down at her feet, she saw that the girl was wearing what looked like "mens running shoes" with her dress and said that she almost burst out laughing. That was my first indication in that just wearing a dress in church wasn't enough. I could not compete with some of the women who wore stylish clothes. But you know what? I did not want to.
I began to wonder what they thought about me wearing some of the clothes I had.
