I never watched or liked MTV, but those were the "good years" musically speaking. Madonna was still attractive and somewhat normal. Michael Jackson was black, and Level 42 were singing about Lessons in Love. Even Christian music was far far better than it is now.

Agreed 110%. The same 7 songs repeated 11 times a day, nowadays. The same can be said about mainstream, secular music...

...which is why the last several years I've been discovering and taking a liking to folk/cultural music (Celtic, cajun, etc) since I can easily get worn out from listening to the radio, regardless of genre...
