The first would be a teaching that there is actually a scriptural formula to always be ahead financially as a divine right and never face financial hardship.
The second is a man centered message that is designed to appeal to the masses.

I see where you're coming from here.......to play Devil's Advocate, is there any scripture that says a Christian SHOULD face financial hardship?
And, as far as a man-centered message, I don't see being purpose driven as man-centered.....Jesus was purpose driven......what makes the difference is what your purpose is.....
Again, just for discussion........

Three things poverty minded christians don't want to hear.
The LOVE of money is root of all evil.
Blessed are the poor IN SPIRIT
It's harder for a rich man to enter heaven. BUT WITH GOD, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.

It is WRONG to high-jack a thread and talk about whatever you want. I would never do that.

I didn't. My response had everything to do with controlling churches. I was expressing why I thought it controlling to discourage members from ever visiting a church that still needed more truth.

Don't explain and don't worry about it Originalist. It doesn't matter what you post. Ms Emma will find a way to tell you how unholy you are.
I fed her roadkill for dinner and she probably thinks that the roadkill was more holy than I.
