It is astounding to see how quickly the Charismatic movement, more so than any other group, is descending into medieval Catholic mysticism. I wonder why?

Because that is where superstition leads you. I used to be a Catholic and it is a very superstitious religion, IMO.

Could be that.
I think something else, something much deeper and sinister is happening in the spirit realm.
Can't prove it yet, though.

When I was very new to the whole church thing, I'd been attending a UPC for a few months, and I hadn't received the holy ghost yet, I went with My Mom and Sister to visit this Charismatic (I think it was AOG) church that was having some kind of special services. (My sister and Mom had been to a pentecostal church maybe once or twice)
So we go, it's your fairly basic service at first, music, preaching, altar call. (Though I remember they had a few baptisms and I cried and insisted on whispering "in Jesus Name" under my breath for everyone)
Anyway, they called everyone down to the altar. We went, and then it got weird. People started dropping like flies around us. Not one or two or ten, EVERYONE!
Until it was basically the 3 of us, standing in the middle of a church altar area, surrounded by hundreds of bodies on the floor. We were pretty freaked out, and started whispering among ourselves, when all of a sudden this lady on the floor who was "slain" ROLLED over and smacked my sister in the leg! My sister of course said "OWWW!" and looked down, and the lady put her finger up to her lips and said "SHHHHH!" and then rolled back over and went back to being "Slain".
My Mom got so mad! She stomped her foot and yelled "You Go to Hell!" At which point we looked at her shocked, and she remembered where she was! We couldn't help it, we burst into nervous hysterical laughter. Grabbed our things and ran out of that church as fast as we could!

That church also forever became known to us as the "falling down church".

Re: Glory Clouds And Gold, or Fog and Glitter?
I get really irritated when you go to pray with someone and the first thing they think they have to do is fall down. They get used to go to flake and bake churches that push that drivel.
I just step back and tell them to stand up so we can finish praying for them.

BTW I personally believe we SHOULD be seeking after signs, signs wonders and miracles.
We should pray all the time for God to do His wonderful works through us and in our midst

As long as the basis for our seeking begins with this premise - "But seek ye FIRST the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matthew 6:33
The gifts, miracles, signs and wonders work in perfect unity when our focus is on Jesus Christ alone.
