Well I love it because I find brethren across the world who believe like I do.

I also love it because I find brethren who do not believe like I do, their different opinions regarding certain doctrines, forces me to study more carefully the scriptures and see if my doctrines can withstand scrutiny.

I have no fear of anyone questioning anything I believe, I have no sacred cows, for the truth never fears questions, the truth stands when everything else falls, and I am not afraid of anyone questioning any of my beliefs.

I love AFF for most of the members are not afraid to question just about any doctrine. At the end of time only truth will stand, everything that is false or wrong will fall by the wayside.

I stand upon the Bible as the truth, I only accept the Bible as the text for truth. if it is not in the Bible, then I simply refuse to accept it as pure truth.
my motto has always been The Bible, the Bible, the Bible and only the Bible.
So if you are going to challenge any of my beliefs, you better know your Bible.

I love AFF and I hope it remains an open forum for Apostolics of every stripe and denomination.
AFF

For me, AFF is like America. Both have their problems, and both are the best thing going. What makes AFF great is it's people. People like Renee, Crakjak, MTD, Timmy, Abiding, Amanah, Esphes, Salome, Erica, Esaias, Dordrecht, Miss Scarlett, Miss Brattifield, Sam, Lafon, MawMaw, Kept, CC1, Pressing-on, Bishoph, Sis Alvear, Truthseeker, Mizpeh, Votive, ILG, KCLee4JC, Sequoia, God's Drummer, and many many more.

Your posts inspire me, challenge me, and display a breath-taking glimpse of the variety at work in the church. I disagree with most of you, but you always remember love and respect, and then disagreement. I offer you the highest compliment I know: I see Christ in you.

Those who maintain AFF are to be highly praised, and those who founded it remembered. Of all the many parts in the body of Christ, AFF has become a voice in a wicked generation. Moderating so many opinions cannot be easy, but admin does an admirable job of it.

The downside of AFF are the smarty-pants. The short, terse answers. The mocking and humiliating. And what's hard for me, is that these are great names in the halls of heaven...on the very lips of angels. Men of learning, and commitment, and long hours of dedication. They have mastered wise as serpents, but have left off harmless as doves. You men do soil your own honor, when you banter about on here like smarty-pants. In the church of Jesus Christ...that 2,000 year long project nearing completion...your barbs and pricks, your ridicule and lack of charity, are dark spots on a shiny street of gold.

Don't you men know that you are highly respected, both in heaven and on earth? That you are in the upper seats of the feast? That we are the finishing touches upon God's greatest creation? Aquila's words are bathed in grace, but yours in cold steel. O'Briencp speaks with temperance, while your words rest in the dead letter alone. You can leave your opponent stuck to the wall, with your sword through his heart, and say you have won the battle. But you have not won your brother.

To the constant whiners and complainers about my Lord's church on this forum, suffice it to say as fact: my Lord has a church. It behooves you to find it. According to scripture; it is structured, financed from within and above, and is reaching out to lost souls. It has a ministry, and a pastorate built upon the simplicity of a shepherd watching over his flock. There are rules of conduct, guidelines of modesty, and an abhorrence of sin...both in the world, and in ourselves. In my Lord's church the anointed preaching of the word of God cleanses us, the joy of fellowship refreshes us, and the glory of worship renews us.

Against the backdrop of an endless universe, his church is the greatest creation of all. It is built lifework upon lifework, across 2,000 years, with the mortar of grace and mercy. Humbled is the man who knows this, and that upon this AFF forum, some of those that he walks with are among the sons of God.

Why the avowed trinitarian and the atheist visit here, I haven't a clue. Nor have I figured out why the muslims and bert keep coming back. I guess it takes all kinds to make a world.

Re: Why I love AFF

I agree with you PT. Here on AFF, you will most likely find quite a few who agree or disagree with you, but at least it is a place with open discussion. I have learned so much since being a member here. If you only surround yourself with your opinion, and your understanding of a matter, you become very closed minded, but if you can open yourself to look at a matter with different opinions and ideas, you can solidify what you believe, and if it what you believe is truth, it will stand the test.

As many of you already know, I was a staunch conservative; however, since joining this forum I have learned some things that have caused me to rethink many of my positions on things. I am glad I ran into this Forum.

AFF and its predecessors have all been great places to discuss issues on any and all topics. Although UPC from birth my beliefs have "grown". I had already left legalism as such, but the forum gave support to previous beliefs .

Re: Why I love AFF

Started at Jim Yohe's FCF went through all the succession of the forum till it ended up here. I rarely post. Do have some friends such as CC1 met on FCF. Just not a lot in common. I do lurk from time to time. I am on several more Apostolic in doctrine forums one of which seems like it is becoming another AFF. Honestly I am what I was doctrinally and in lifestyle as the first day I logged onto FCF. There was a chemistry there that has never been duplicated. And we certainly had all out war on many issues. Fudge's book had just come out. Newman was critiquing RR's book. Lots of fun and blood pressure highs. As time went on steam was lost and probably everyone got a little weary of fussing the same topics over and over particularly with those who seemed to despise all the Apostolic church is. Just some random thoughts.

When they despise all that the Apostolic church is, then they are despising my Lord, and are to be pitied.

There have always been those who despise the apostles, even on the very first day on the day of Pentecost, some said, that the disciples were drunk.

Peter simply explained the gospel message and ignored the despisers.

In any forum you have available, you do like Paul who preached at Mar's hill, he took the opportunity to preach the gospel and simply ignored the scoffers.

Re: Why I love AFF

Been a long time lurker of AFF and Good News Cafe. I do remember Jim Yohe and FCF. I thank God for forums like this where I can have good discussions with fellow believers from all over the world. Even if I don't post very often, I learn a lot from just reading the discussions.

I am also grateful for the fact that we don't need to see or know one another to be able to pray. Someday, in heaven I hope to meet all of you.

Maybe you don't love them enough to sound the warning.
