"This" generation was describing a generation to see particular multiple events in prophecy.
As in.....Verily I say unto you, This(particular) generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.(see these events fulfilled, they will happen in 7 years, not multiple generations)

The fact that these end time events have not occurred, lets us know that we are still LOOKING for the particular generation the Lord was addressing.

There is no indication in that chapter it was gong to happen beyond those he spoke to. He said you over and over.

"Shall deliver you up" not them. He was warning them what was going to happen to them.

Matthew 24:15-16 KJV
When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand  Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
"When ye(you) therefore shall see" not them. They were to flea into the mountains from Judea. Shows what was going to happen was local to that area.
