It's not so much questioning rules. but why it's ok for a girl to show her legs from a few inches below knees and be ok for camp, but boys can't do the same??
Of course, when we go he will follow the rules.

This is about like telling your kids R rates movies are not appropriate for them, but watching them after hours behind closed doors. But that is another story.

Exactly! How foolish is that?
Talk about double standards! And hey, this thread isn't even about preachers!
OMG!!!!!

We were ultracons when my son was growing up, so shorts were never an issue and he doesn't wear shorts/short pants in public. ....Now that he is grown and married, what he does inside his home is his business, but churches I attended preached against short sleeves being worn even inside the home.

Because I think everyone has a right to decide what may be a sin for them. I don't like socks with shoe's, nor do I like hair bows on grown women, I think these things are ugly as sin, but I'm not going to tell my kids they can't wear them because I think it's a sin. Just because I think a grown woman looks awful doing these things that look best on the younger gals under 19.

I don't see what's so hard to understand how that applies to the subject.
If our children hear us griping and complaining about how unfair rules are, that makes them start to notice things, then they start grumbling and griping about things, then the next step is to become rebellious about something else they're told they aren't allowed to do. They watch us and listen to us and learn from us, they know more about us than anyone else in the world.

You might put him in kilts a couple of inches below the knee.

(We were living in HK at the time.) We just couldn't put those long pants on those little kids who were running and jumping and playing sports, etc. For our daughter, she wore a light summer dress (again school uniform) that was both cool and modest.
But we felt that when they got into secondary school, it was time for them to wear long pants and in fact long pants were part of the summer uniform in the higher grades -- so it made it very simple and very "natural" to make the switch.

Can immodesty vary according to age? is a child showing their lower legs immodest?
can one say it's immodest for an ADULT but not a child? My daughter wears shirts I wouldn't want my wife to wear.
A skirt two inches below the knee on my wife is a no go, but on my 6 year old it doesn't bother me.

You have your answer. It's a standard, not bible, nor a sin unto heaven or hell!
