You are blessed!

The last few camp meetings or conferences that I have attended have had at least one good "Rally the troops" message on standards. Although this is "preaching to the choir", often it gets folks fired up!

I've seen the extremes of both sides of the spectrum

I've seen the ultra cons who preach against everything but fresh air and then I have seen the XUPCers who no long have NO standards in their lives and end up drinking, gambling, believing in the Carlton pearson Type Doctrines, and worse.

we humans never seem to be able to strike a balance do we??

2Ti 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

I don't worry about PROTECTING my holiness (if I had any to protect). Thats not my job. Thats His job I have committed my heart, my life and my soul who is able to keep it. He is quite capable. My job is to live so that His Holiness can be PROJECTED thru me.

First, let me ask - do you really feel that outward standards protect inward holiness?

Don't feel sorry for me, I know where I stand. Much of what I post here is for the benefit of others.

I think you misinterpreted my post, I meant the outward standards are akin to the washing and waxing of a car.

When I was a young man, I bought a 1975 Cutlass Supreme, beautiful metallic blue, with white vinyl top, white leather interior, mag wheels, etc. It was a beautiful car. But, I couldn't keep it running. So, more often than not, it sat in the driveway, looking beautiful, but going nowhere.

Then, a few years ago, I purchased a 1982 Mazda GLC just to go back and forth to work. It was rusted, sun roof had to be taped shut, interior was ripped, but it ran like crazy! It got me thru the winter while I stored one of my other hot rods.

My point is, sometimes cars don't look good on the outside, but they get you from point A to point B.

And, sometimes, cars are beautiful on the outside, but sit in a driveway, absolutely useless.

The only point I'm trying to make is that if we spend all of our time on the outside(dress), neglecting the inside(heart), it makes for a bunch of people who look really good, but sit on a church pew going absolutely nowhere.

Now, before I get the glut of emails protesting, I AM NOT REFERRING TO EVERYONE!

Just some that I've met..........

This always reminds me of church camps in Summer where, despite it being a 'camp', the people (mainly women) dressed AS good as any group of Hollywood starlets walking the red carpet at a movie premier. They were simply there to be seen. ("Husband Hunting" was the usual motive.)
Oh, they followed the "law" to a T but within that law broke every single principle and intent.
