These verses must really confuse you, then.
Hebrews 12:22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
Hebrews 12:23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
Isaiah 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Psalms 1:3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Isaiah 62:12 And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.

Re: Why I Am A Futurist
Hey I got and idea!
If we multiply the 12,000 furlongs(units of measurement) by infinity, we come up with this.....But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels
Or this....After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and tribes, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
Or this....8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
Hey, this is fun..I love math!(didnt even need an ABACUS-calculator for our times)
Preterism must be a blast when inventing things!

I view Revelation as events at the start of the church period, not the end. The work of the cross did so many things and Old Jerusalem had rebelled so viciously against her own Groom, Jesus, that there could not be a greater crime deserving of more judgment. John's very first chapter opens up with the thought that He came to His own and His own received Him not. (John also wrote Revelation).
So much happened in that critical first century of changeover from Law.
Jerusalem had been the shining star on earth since God led Israel into Canaan and established her with God's name in the form of the temple. It was a huge thing after all those centuries for God to raze her to the ground and for Jesus to have cried how often He would have gathered her together under his wings, but she would not.
The change in covenants was monumental, moreso than anything that ever happened on earth before or since. Satan never showed himself more manifest than in the days of Christ when Jerusalem crucified Him. Never.
People told me that the destruction of Jerusalem was a mere hiccup in the prophetic plan. When I responded saying Jerusalem was His bride, and was the goal of the Exodus from Egypt when Israel first came under Old Covenant, and it was God's bride adulterating like a whore with Rome (as she did with Assyria, Canaan and other nations according to Ezekiel 16, time and time again), and killed her own husband, people did not know what to say.
And this old versus the new was the theme throughout the entire Bible beginning in the Garden. Flesh versus spirit. First against the blessed last. Tree against tree. Cain versus Abel. Lineage against Lineage. Abraham versus Lot. Isaac versus Ishmael. Jacob versus Esau. David versus Saul. Finally Old Jerusalem versus New. Old temple versus New. Old Covenant versus New.
That was all at the start of the new Covenant, not the end. Jesus went to the throne at the start of the New Covenant. No throne remains for Him to sit upon. That cannot be turned backwards.

And daughters of the whore are all under the same spiritual canopy, which is more to what I'd apply your thoughts, Shazeep.
Blessings!

And to think, you attempted to rebuke me for teasing you about your view of having to munch on leaves to remain immortal.
I know you feel your literal view (minus of course some "minor symbols", at your sole discretion) is a purist, more consistent method that any other, even though your literal views of most things is not supported anywhere else in the entirety of the Bible, while we at least are open to the idea of searching in the bible for previous usages of a saying or phrase to allow the Bible to interpret the Bible.
You should try it sometime...
