"I'm a one-God Apostolic, tongue-talking, holy-roller, born-again, Heaven-bound believer in the liberating power of Jesus' name. I've been washed in the blood, sanctified by the spirit, I believe in holiness and I suggest you do the same. I was set free at an Apostolic altar on my knees so you'll pardon me if I'm not ashamed to be a one-God Apostolic, tongue-talking, holy-roller, born-again, heaven-bound believer in the liberating power of Jesus' name."
If you put "I'm a one-God Apostolic, tongue talking" in google quite a few sites come up with the chorus to this song!...but what about the verses??
We used to sing the verses. I don't have them now though.

Felicity, I have not been able to find the verses on the internet. One site said someone named "Lance Appleton" wrote the song...I think that's right. I will keep looking. Maybe I didn't explore the sites well enough.
What about "God's Gonna Get Ya for That"??..I did a google on that and it came up as a song recorded by George Jones and Tammy Wynette. May not be the same one.
The one I remember went like this:
God's gonna get ya for that,
God's gonna get ya for that,
Every wrong thing that you do,
He knows where you're at.
It was not one of those songs you hoped someone sang when you brought a visitor to church.
We had a wonderful pastor in the early 70's who was willing to let anyone who was Apostolic who visited our church get up and sing a special number. One night a woman named Marcella came to visit. She was WAY country! So Bro D says, "Marcella, will you give us a song?" and she agrees immediately. Pops up to the piano and starts belting this song out at the top of her lungs.
Our poor pastor was about ready to crawl under his seat. And of course, we young people were busting up!! I mean - seriously - laughing right out loud!!! We couldn't help ourselves!!!
That is a service I will never forget!! Thanks for reminding me.

Dego tees......sounds like a racial slur but that's what we called them. They were tank tops and usually two or more were worn together.....LOL!
Pink and gray worn together was in style also.
Also, bright color combinations. One of my favs was a certain blue shirt with a yellow sweater and a red skirt. Sounds strange now but it was cool then!
There were also shirts with long tails in the back. I loved those shirts.
Hahaha.....this is the wrong thread....thought it was the 80's one......ROFL!!!
i was thinking that was the 80's !lol I remember the pink and gray outfits... the layers look... I neeed to go over to the 80's ... those were the days...

Check this out. It's not a seventies "memory", but I thought it was fitting for this thread. For Mother's Day I got a 4-cd set called Roll n' Roll of the 70s! Is that not just too funny after we've been posting on this thread that has 58 pages of seventies memories?

Here's a 70s song written by Lance Appleton that we used to sing back then. TB was able to remember the 2nd verse but we can't get all the words to the 1st.
Does anybody else remember this?
Verse 1:
In these last days we're living in ----------
--------------------------------
They want their long hair and their beards
Their miniskirts and their TVs too
---------------------------------------
Chorus:
You've got to be in the ship with the Master Sailor
If you want to make it through life's stormy seas
There's no room for middle of the road mediocrity
You go to be in the ship or out
Ain't no room to leave for doubt.
Just say now if I do this, will Jesus shine on me?!
Verse 2:
Some people get the Holy Ghost and they think that is enough
But they want no part of that one God stuff
They'll baptize you in the titles - & tell you you're all set
But if you don't go down in Jesus name, friend
You're just getting wet!
People loved it when we sang this! LOL!
Wow. That brings back memories. I loved that song when I was a kid! I can still hear it being sung.
