I see your point. But it assumes that all who wear beards are guilty of vanity and wanting to look like ZZTop. That isn't righteous judgment.

I wear a beard for several reasons.
A.) I've been clean shaven most of my life. I found the change refreshing.
B.) I have a rather young face. A beard tends to help me look more my age, and I've noticed in meetings that I'm taken more seriously.
C.) My lady love actually loves it.
D.) Shaving effects me mentally. I was in the military for 8 years and we were required to shave. I've found that I'm more relaxed, more patient, and less military minded when wearing a beard. It's like the beard helps me close the book on that chapter of my life. When I'm clean shaven, it's almost like putting on a part of my old uniform.
E.) I just like it. We all have personal styles of haircut, clothes, music, etc. that we enjoy personally. Me, I enjoy my beard.
I don't have anything against clean shaven people. The thought has never really crossed my mind. Of course, I've come to where I joke about it sometimes with statements like, "There are two kinds of people in this world. Those with beards... and women." But those are just jokes. I've actually been judged by a couple churches who mandate being clean shaven, before they even took the time to get to know me. Most who wear beards would never do that to any clean shaven person based on their being shaven. In fact, we interact with clean shaven people all day. I don't remember ever judging someone just because they were clean shaven.

In all honesty, I'm more likely to not like the appearance of a bearded person, especially if their beard is excessively long and unkept looking. I see not special virtue in having a beard. It's just a hair style preference like blocking or tapering one's hair at the back of the neck.

It’s referring to hair on the head, not on the face.

If one believes the admonishment against long hair on a man includes beards, I'm willing to wager that they shave their legs and armpits too. lol

Is it a shame for a woman to pluck her eyebrows or clip any nose hairs?

Against: I believe that someone (who probably was not capable of growing a decent beard) successfully and convincingly "came out" against beards. Early Pentecost brethren wore beards or not. So when it is preached about today we tend to ignore the "OLD TIME PENTECOST" that we claim to hold dear. The against is a doctrine of men from my perspective.

For: You know the scripture that is pro beard. "Don't round the corners of your beard". The default assumption, or implication is that you will have a beard. Having said all that I'm in the camp that "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty". If you want a beard, grow a beard. If you want to be clean-shaven, shave.

Having said all of that Sis. Alvear, I must admit that I don't think a beard would suit you. Just my opinion.
