i never get tired of Jesus, jesus, jesus, theres just something about, that name, lol,dt
THAT has got to be one of the most incorrectly played song of all time HA.
The "Kings and Kingdoms" part was always played wrong in the country churches I went to. It used to drive me bananas... my ear is too picky for it's own good.
THe song is beautiful though... I never tire of songs about the Name.

Psalm 19:14
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
Another song that HAS to be mentioned as the 'throw dirt on it and put it out of our misery' song of the decade is one I think many will agree on:
I preached a Pastoral Anniversary Service a few years ago where they did a slide show of his 25 years as their Pastor. Good idea, sweet intentions.
The only problem was that they only had one song in the PowerPoint played over... and over... and over... and over. The whole 25 years was encapsulated in 350 picture trip down 'memory lane' accompanied by a VERY monotonous "Thank You For Giving To The Lord" a grand total of 13 times in a row!!!
It got so bad that everytime it would start over people would start howling laughing! I almost felt sorry for the folks but, hey, after 13 times in a row you can't blame them for laughing!
Good song - kind of enjoyed it the first 58 times I heard it, just endured it the next 210 times I heard it. It's all those other 239,599,020,247 times that I had to listen to it that have kind of left a bad taste in my mouth!

LOL!!!!! Now that's funny. We did that one once as a black light/gloves song...that freshened it up a little. But its definitely way overused.
There IS something to be said for singing a new song to the Lord!!!!! Sometimes you can bring back a really old song, and its new again.
Another one that is way overused - "I Feel Jesus In the House Tonight"

I always liked that song... probably because I've proved it true in my own life.
I don't lead worship or sing in a choir, so , yeah, in the pew I either don't say Jehovah or sing quietly the name of Jesus. I like the song and I've been blessed it as well.

Blah blah blah...when you figure out how to keep everyone happy in a song service, feel free to come and take my job will ya...until then I'll keep plodding along doing my small thing for Jesus!!!!!!!!!
Or, ya could just shut up and get with me....Heeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I think of songs that are loooooong past retirement, "One Day At A Time" always comes to mind. Remember that one? Everybody and their brother, sister and mother-in-law sang that song. Im sure there are many current songs that need to go, as well, but, IMO, that old, tired Christy Lane song should have been shelved years ago. By "old, tired", I'm referring to the song.

Now that makes more sense and of course it is your right to do so. I change the words from Hallelujah to watermelon during Handel's Messiah (TRUE) *that started in bible school*
