You disagree with using youth?

Re: It's Time to Let the Younger Generations Lead!
Not enough time to catch up.....
Often times in our churches the 30 and under crowd are more passionate about God than the 31+ group. This is my experience. There should be a seasoned leader, but with the world getting edgier and the other churches getting hipper it MUST be done in our movement. Think it through about 2 decades ago we were the forerunners in worship and such. Now other churches even the deader ones have passed us. I think this kinda points back to the traditions we have set and the culture our church lives. If you set a culture that the church you are leading and be the forerunner and on the cutting edge then you will not have to answer the question 'Why are trying to act like such and such church/ministry?' Churches should offer helping prgrams for addictions and things. How many times have you said or heard growing up that if you have an issue get into the Holy Ghost and problems will be solved? There are some issues that no matter how much you tongues you speak the problem will still be there. Prayer and fasting is the catalyst behind the greatest changes in church history. But prayer and fasting with out solid Biblical teaching and direction from the word is just missing meals and saying a bless me prayer. There are such things as balance meals. Just cereal by itself is not a balanced meal. Cereal with some fruit and maybe some toast or an egg will make the meal balanced. Just a bunch of Holy Ghost will not balance you out. You might get full on it for a time, but you will not stay full consistantly.

I don't see how a person can not want to use the youth of today. Most of the youth is not the sleeping around and on drugs like alot of the old generation wants you to believe. Some of the greatest leaders have been the greatest servants

While it's important to remember the older, traditional songs (which BTW can be updated),and pass them on to the younger generation, we can't live in a cave. The word of God(insong) is living and active. It's alive. Todays' generation can't get the same thing exactly in the same way the generation of past got. Don't think of it as segregated....God is blending the past and present together, beautify, even using old hymns and giving a different sound to them. For example: Passion/hymns ancient and modern CD.
Hope that helps

Pianoman,
It depends on what you are speaking of specifically.
Do you want a 25 yr old pastor or do you want a man
with a little more age and wisdom???
I DO think we need to let the young people have their
Day and let 'em go forth in what God has given them.
I'm very open minded in that regard

I'm saying that we should take the handcuffs off our young leaders. It's time for them to be the tip of the spear against the enemy of this generation.
I'm curious. What was the age of the disciples when Jesus picked them to be the leaders of his new church? If they were the same age as Jesus, they were in their early 30s. Did he pick older disciples because of their wisdom?

I agree with you for the most part but you didn't answer my question.
you have sat under an older pastor for many years. would you have
rather sat under a youth pastor as an adult ?

Many 30-somethings are already preaching, pastoring, or are in leadership positions in churches, so what is your point exactly?
Is anyone holding down the 30-somethings? And aren't they free to start up new churches if the Lord wills? Should a 55 year old pastor resign and let his youth pastor take over, just so we can have some "new, young blood" running the church?

Re: It's Time to Let the Younger Generations Lead!
Bro. J.Varnum is great about encouraging the young men in his church to excell in the ministry, should they feel the calling to preach. I think it's great! But there balance. You can't just turn a church over to a group just because of their age....nor can you neglect a group just because of their age... Everyone has a place. Mine is in a cafe right now sipping on an espresso!
