I hear on the radio here all the time about how well we in Houston have been insulated from the crunh that most cities have been feeling, but I didn't really comprehend it until I talked to some people in other parts of the country. I pray that things pick up for you really soon....and from your past posting style, I know you're going to survive.

I'm not sure if it's as simple as the oil and that what might be bad for the rest of the country is good for an oil town. It also helps that our homes were never overpriced like in most other major cities. Most people didn't even believe me when I was telling them what houses cost here when we were looking a few years back. It is at least half of what you would expect to pay in a major city. Either way even some of the national companies who are laying people off in other places are still building and opening new locations in the Houston area. I'm not sure how long it will all last, but you're starting to see Houston move up on all the lists of places to buy and live in.

I can believe that would be part of the reason. I lived in Clear Lake during the early 80's. I like to visit, but I feel more at home in Austin.
