Re: Church Fathers Opinion of Hair

To "Praxeas" and "The Legalist" and others,

I have a question or two, something I thought I had sorted out, but recently has come back into question for me.

If we cannot use the culture of the day to help us interpret scriptures, and we instead take the stance that exactly what the Bible states is what we must do today. How then do we interpret:

1) Let your women keep silent in the church.

2) Greet the brethern with a holy kiss

3) The "broided hair" statement

I believe the answer is that we try to establish the principle that God is giving us in His Word. A principle that can transcend generations, cultures, and can always be applied in the future.

However, I would really like to hear some other opinions. Some common sense biblical based ideas....

Also in another letter to Timothy Paul admonishes the brethren to not have women having authority or teaching other men, and makes an appeal to the OT (Adam and Eve)... are these then transcendent to culture? Many say, because of that, they are.
correct translation in Greek is; "the nature of things"...nature (as in God's design) itself doesn't teach a man to have short hair, a mans hair will grow like a woman's.

Re: Church Fathers Opinion of Hair

Here's a paper by those in the Adventists Camp. He starts off with a background on Jewelry, then on Scriptures that seem to admonish, and scriptures that seem to support.
