It takes up a lot less space in your freezer and you don't have to have a lot of different pans, etc.

Then you turn the bag inside out to dump out the frozen punch into the bowl and add the 7-up, etc.
I would think that would work, Renda. I think that the reason she told me to put it in the pans was so that you didn't have that one big chunk when you went to make the slush (punch). Have you made this before? I think I'd probably try it your way. But then, I'm all for easy. LOL

I make one like it and I do freeze it in the gallon zip lock bags. One trick to filling it up.

Take a large bowl and put the bag in it - - that will help hold it up while you fill it and not spill out. Press the air out of it - zip it up and lay flat in your freezer. It breaks up easily once you add the other soda.

Re: Ladies! Need help on wedding punch!

This lady I know was freaking out because she was making punch for a wedding and she was running out of bowls to put the punch in the freezer. I suggested she use the gallon bags and she looked at me like I was nuts and said you can't do that.

I filled one for her (put the bag in the mixing bowl for support) - flatten it out and stacked about four in her freezer. She wouldn't admit it was the better way, but I did find out later that is how she does it now - - lol!!!!!

Re: Ladies! Need help on wedding punch!

Here is one that my cousins uses-
Banana Brunch Punch
6 med. ripe bananas
1 (12 oz) can frozen orange juice, thawed
1 (6oz) can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
3 cups warm water, divided
2 cups sugar
1 ( 46 oz) can pineapple juice
3 (2liter) lemon lime soda

Blend in first three ingredients until smooth. Add 11/2 cup warm water and 1 cup sugar. Blend. Add remaining water and sugar. Blend and freeze. About 1 hour before serving, remove from freezer to thaw into a slush. Add pineapple juice and soda. Stir until well blended. Makes about 2 quarts juice.

I don't know whose punch it is, but it sure sounds delicious. LOL

Renda, I will tell my friend to try freezing the way you said. It sure makes sense to me.

Re: Ladies! Need help on wedding punch!

PO, if you use fruit rings, just don't do what someone else did-they got fresh strawberries, intending to cut them up and freeze them in juice in rings.

Helpful person shoves berries, whole, into freezer as they are.

Another helpful person plunks berries into punch made with soda, stems and all.

Suddenly, white foamy blobs with green hairy looking tops are bobbing in soda and juice that was meant to be punch...

It was a wedding. We didn't have much to drink that day.

Slushy Punch

2 1/2 c. sugar
3 c. water
Boil and stir until sugar is dissolved.
Add
1 12 oz. can frozen Orange Juice Concentrate
1 12 oz. can frozen Lemonade Concentrate
1 46 oz. can pineapple juice
3 c. cold water
Stir until the frozen juices are dissolved. Then pour into cake pans or other shallow pans. Freeze overnight. When frozen, cut into chunks and put into gallon ziplock bags.
When ready to use, put the chunks into a large (2 gallon) punch bowl. Pour 2 2 liter bottles of 7-Up or Sprite over the frozen chunks. Stir until the chunks break up and mix with the pop. It will look like frozen applesauce. Tastes yummy.
That looks good - especially the freezing part - ahead of time.

Man, we could award a prize for the winning punch recipe?!!!
