This is exactly my thought process on this issue!

Re: IBC Declined To Sing With Madonna/Super Bowl
Mickey Mangun, Anthony Mangun, and the Church of Alexandria supported one of the greatest Whoremongers to ever serve in the White House. Bill Clinton slept with hundreds of women, helping to build Tyson Chicken via drug/cocaine money, all while he was Governor of Arkansas (this was discovered before Monica Lewinsky).
It is also concluded that old Wild Bill slept with Madonna.

NewsMax.com 9/29/00 Carl Limbacher "…… Monica Lewinsky was just one of "hundreds" of women Bill Clinton cheated with during the his years as the nation's chief executive, according to a longtime Clinton insider who estimated the size of the presidential harem during a speech on Wednesday. Commenting on Clinton's peccadilloes to a Miami University audience, one-time presidential political guru Dick Morris contended: "He's had hundreds of women since he's been in the White House." Referring to Clinton cabinet members who blindly accepted his denials of an affair with Lewinsky, Morris said, "You had to be a moron to believe this guy after his past record." ..."

Re: IBC Declined To Sing With Madonna/Super Bowl
I am amazed at some of the thought processes here. All the comments have been regarding the fact that it was Madonna they were asked to sing with. (And I totally agree with the fact that they shouldn't participate with her.)
If it had been some other secular artist that is not quite so ??? (you fill in your description), would you have been okay with it? (i.e. Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, etc. etc)
My, my how things have changed! It was just a few short years ago, singing at the Super Bowl wouldn't have been considered at all - no matter WHO they were backing up. It would have been wrong to be at the football game. It could have been George Beverly Shea, The Gaithers, or whoever else and it would have been SIN. I kept waiting on CC1, Steinway, Renda, Ferd or someone like that to mention this, but I guess they aren't going to. I just found it interesting that no one commented on that.
Disclaimer: I am NOT saying I think it would be sin, just that it wouldn't have even been a consideration for a UPCI Bible College to participate in something like this.

Well things have changed a lot - and I don't just mean people. Media access has hugely changed the face of everything - and consequently our conception has changed as well.
I used to get the USA Today newspaper - now I spend time working on the computer while listening to Fox News Videos or NPR.
We used to sing and preach against the "Devils Box" - now UPC church choirs compete nationally for Verizon's How Sweet The Sound while millions watch the performances.
There were a lot of different opinions when our family went on Wife Swap, five years ago. But there was an aspect to the episode that was not hidden to all. MICHAEL HIRSCHORN, Atlantic Monthly writer said this:
"On one February show, a Pentecostal family, the Hoovers, was paired with the family of a former pastor, Tony Meeks, who has turned from God to follow his rock-and-roll dreams (mom Tish rocks out as well). “I feel by being there,” Kristin Hoover said, “I was able to remind Tony that God still loves him and is not finished with him.” The episode took seriously the Hoovers’ commitment to homeschooling and their rejection of contemporary culture (a rejection not taken to the extreme of declining an invitation to appear on reality TV). Compare this with the tokenism of “born-again Christian” Harriet Hayes on NBC’s dramedy Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Harriet’s but a cipher, a rhetorical backboard against which ex-boyfriend Matt Albie can thwack his heathen wisecracks.”
I do think we are evolving a bit - not as a church only but as society. It would be wrong to continue resistance to Jurassic technologies in a digital age. I think we should take opportunities if they arise, though Madonna or Borat would not exactly be good examples to latch on to.

Re: IBC Declined To Sing With Madonna/Super Bowl
When I saw IBC had been invited to sing at the Super Bowl and turned it down, there was not any mention of them singing with Madonna. For that one instance, I was disappointed that IBC Staff would not allow the choir to sing an AWESOME Gospel song to the world
THEN, I read another FB post where they were to sing with Madonna and then I agree'd that IBC Staff made the right decision. Madonna was not a good influnence when I was a teenager and she is still not one today. IMO.

Re: IBC Declined To Sing With Madonna/Super Bowl
Hoovie - I understand what you are talking about and I agree that "things" have changed and not just people. Media has played a HUGE part in that. Please realize that I am NOT condemning anyone for participation in such an outlet. I just found it interesting that this concept wasn't even mentioned. For those of us that have roots in this, coming from a time when kids didn't even participate in Little League or Pop Warner Football or the soccer program - much less high school competitive sports - I found it interesting that no one commented on it.
