Why do we not teach our kids they can live an overcoming life in a world filled with sin? Why do we want to separate them from every opportunity to be a witness and a light? Why do kids backslide even when they are kept from every enjoyable thing in life?

Only in the absence of good influence. I am NOT a coach for my youngest son who is a "soccer dude" and runs track. But I am his godly influence and teach him about the right attitude in competition, in wins and in losses.
Some kids without Christiann dads, get into sports and the ungodly influence them. So it is the absence of something, not the presence of something, per se.

Because we don't teach them to be warriors. We teach them that at the slightest amount of negative or evil influence that they will cave and fall into sin head long and will not recover so they should never get involved. In other words we get what we preach.
Sorry, I want to see them go out and kick some devil BUTT!!!!!!! I teach them to be warriors, soldiers, overcomers etc.
Sorry, but you got me started!!!!

I thank God for the fences that were built around me. I was still taught that I could live an overcoming life in a "wicked" world. Teens are vulnerable. They need protection.

Okay. But I think we all know of godly parents who have done their best to provide the right influence and yet their child still backslid. Not sure how we attribute that to the lack of something.

All too often they are crippled by our mistrust of them. We teach them God can do anything, and that they can overcome, while all the while doubting the validity of our statements. They see right through us.

Good point, to which there is no easy answer. But there are young people who are not allowed these things, and raised in great Christian homes, who choose to walk away from this way.

Good discussion!
I believe if we taught our kids this approach they could learn to be overcomers!

The problem is that we give them too much protection and not enough weapons!! Teenagers are "made" to fight. They just want something worth fighting for and they want to be able to win!!!

Scary statement, but I believe there is some truth in this.
