  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.

Re: Satan in the Church!

Psalms 56 was a Philistine tune.
The titles of Psalm 8, 81 and 84 contain the Hebrew word gittith This could mean these Psalms were set, not just to a secular tune, but one from the pagan (Philistine) town of Gath. If so, we have clear, Scriptural support for using secular tunes in the highest Christian worship.

Re: Satan in the Church!

I watched a documentary of snake handlers. Some of their upbeat music reminds me of Bill Haley and the Comets.

Re: Satan in the Church!

The asinine thought that a style of music has eternal consequences has been going on for centuries. Handel's Messiah borrowed from the parlor music. David used the tune of Philistine songs. Silent Night was the first christian song which featured a guitar. Amazing Grace caught on after the lyrics were put a well known bar tune. You should have heard the controversy when the priest taught the parishoners how to sing in unison. I Saw the Light (which in my opinion rates up there with Amazing Grace as one of the best religious songs of all time) was written by a drunk who sometime later died as a result of an overdose to painkillers in the back seat of a car.

Sounds like God can use the contemporary music of a culture to reach the masses.
