Re: News about the dangers of drinking diet soda
Some truth to that. Eat right. Die anyway. But I think the point is the best quality of life, whatever and however you get to that.

1. Stevia Taxes the Adrenals

2. Stevia often contains other ingredients
3. Stevia is super high in oxalates
6. Stevia doesn’t support glycogen synthesis

Thank, PO. I'll look into that. Mostly, I just avoid anything sweet because it sometimes triggers cravings for me; but if I really want something sweet, I'll have some strawberries, dark (72%+) dark chocolate, or something with a little stevia. Interesting link, though, and worth checking out.

It simply shows to me that as long as you don't do things in excess and that INCLUDES not just having a coke but OVEREATING can be just as bad, that you should be OK, yet most people don't see it that way.
They think as long as they are drinking a diet whatever they can eat like a cow and still have a healthy body!
There are excesses to everything....having coke and or candy is only ONE fraction of the health problems in this country. a lot of people seem to turn a blind eye to the rest. Such as ...exercise or even eating properly.
To focus on only ONE THING is ignorant. It's like people who think you can live like the devil and be saved too! Guess what? That will not happen. Neither will only focusing on one thing bring about healthy bodies.
Just as you must take the bible as a whole and everyting in it to be saved you have to take into account ALL reasons why people are obese. Not just focus one one thing!

Ya, on a discussion that dealt with prepping some yahoo got on and chastised everyone for storing all this "unhealthy GM food in cans which would only cause cancer and cause everyone to die!" in a SHTF situation. I thought his comment was akin to saying "and if I'm in a airplane and it starts going down, I'M not going to use THAT brand of parachute! Do you have any idea what a high % of failer they had in the 70's???".
By the way, I just had a Ranch Habanero 1/4 pounder at McDee's. Normally I cannot stand them but this particular burger is very good!

Exactly - it's about quality of life and, hopefully, living medication/prescription-free.
My DIL was recently diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. She wasn't overweight, but her body could no longer tolerate sugar/carbs. She was hospitalized with a blood sugar reading of over 500 and put on insulin. After drastically lowering her carb/sugar consumption, she's been able to completely eliminate the need to inject insulin. Today, she is med-free.
I have a lot of family members who are diabetic. I'm trying to avoid that, myself, by limiting my sugar and carb intake. It also helps with weight (yay!), cholesterol, heart disease, blood pressure, depression, energy levels, and much more.

Re: News about the dangers of drinking diet soda
Yeah, sugar is a weakness of mine but I don't eat as much of it as I used to.

I totally agree with this. Every study that comes out seems to disprove a previous idea and before long you can go paranoid trying to figure out what to eat or not eat. Living in moderation in all things I think is definitely the best way to go.
Although I know that when I stopped using Splenda, and began using more natural plant-based sugars, the weight began to drop off of me, whereas before, I was hiking three hours a day, and my weight wasn't budging at all. Now, I'm hiking/walking maybe 1-2 times a week about an hour at a time, and losing weight! Go figure!
So, coming off of Splenda has been a great thing for me, and I'll never go back.

That's awesome!
I try to eat well but I don't get overboard with it. My husband keeps me from getting too fanatical. LOL!
