I have definitely experienced discrimination in trying to find a job.
Once I get someone to hire me then they are never sorry for doing so. I am a very hard worker, self motivated and I am driven by a very competitive spirit that has me constantly wanting to "outdo" the other guy.
(Please note I work from home and my competition is just in my own head... I don't taunt others or anything)
I have never suffered any discrimination in church really.
I am sure some who don't know me have their thoughts as I walk by but, just as at work, I put everything I have into it and I generally hear very positive comments about any involvement I may have in a service.
Overweight is perceived as lazy and people write you off as that pretty fast until you demonstrate otherwise.
Thankfully my current job hired from a testing process where I proved myself and demonstrated a keen ability to understand instructions and execute with precision & speed.

I think it's funny that skinny folks think fat folks are lazy. I'd like to see them carry around 389 pounds everywhere they go!
Lazy, my foot! LOL!

I would know. I once carried that around with me, even up stairs. But lazy I wasn't, and I could move just as fast as those skinny girls! Ask LR! She'll tell you how she'd tell me to slow down in a crowd because I'd zoom right on through!

Before I had my stroke I was the same way. My mother-in-law would always ask me "how can you move so fast?", usually I would walk off and leave her and Renee because they were just so slow. After the stroke I became the slow one.
I seem to recall a discussion about this a while back but I can't find it on AFF.
Are fat people discriminated against? Do they miss out on jobs and ministry opportunities because of their weight? If you had to choose between exact replicas of the same church - yet one church had a fat pastor and the other a stud muffin, would you choose the stud muffin solely based upon the other guy's obesity problem?
Are fat people paid less?
If they were both anointed men of God would walked after the spirit, and then I were to make a decision based on something like weight, I would need to go pray thru!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't stand any kind of "prejudism"...
I truely feel people need to keep themselves healthy... For their children and spouses sake...and for their's. But I'm not going to judge someone because they are overweight. That is just down right wrong... ... .. .. ... .. .. . . .....

I agree... there are too many things for people to blame other than their own habits for a lot of people to take any responsibility for their own weight...
yeah, we were thrown a curve ball with the whole fast food industry, no one knew what would happen... but now we have known for several decades... so I don't think we can use this as an excuse any longer.
