Re: The Effects of A Loud Shout | Raul Alvear Jr.
Wow, these Apostolics are getting fired up! We will go bonkers when this wedding gift is presented to us!....
10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
11 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;
12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:
13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.
14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
15 And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.
16 And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.
17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.
18 And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.
19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;
20 The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.
21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.
22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.
27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

Folks get excited about what is important to them. Some it is pig skins others it is Jesus. Sister Alvear the Bible don't mean much to many.

Re: The Effects of A Loud Shout | Raul Alvear Jr.
I am so amazed what this forum has come to...Well I am an old time mother in Zion....Since a young child our son has has a ministry of praise. Though I may not be one to run the aisles much I believe in worship with all my heart. I have lived long enough to know God has different ways of using different people. My husband is an encourager...he seldom gets "worked up"...but he encourages people in his sermons. If I have to say anything it is usually something about missions for that is my call....I love to tell stories of how God has moved on the mission field and many pastor's ask me to come and share my stories with their churches. Each one has a purpose in life and we must live our purpose. Our son in the jungle is a modern day apostle....
We have one son "the rough and tough kind...." he pastors and he has a motorcycle group of brothers that go out and evangelize!
So beloved we are all different....God uses each one of us in different ways according to the need in the body...I prefer a teaching service over a shouting service but both are needful!
I like slow songs...others like fast songs....We need each one in the body of Christ...and we need those angels that have been singing holy trillions of years to continue singing Holy....

Re: The Effects of A Loud Shout | Raul Alvear Jr.
I like this... Acts 2:1-47 ESV
When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven. ...

The bible describes worship and praise. Shouting is included, so if you don't like shoutin' you don't like biblical worship.
The bible goes further and COMMANDS shouting. Do you prefer God's opinion or your own personal feelings on the matter? Conform to scripture, be conformed to God's Way, and follow in the footsteps of all the saints of God who have gone before you, be a part of something far older than yourself, something that will in fact be eternal.
OR, harrumph in your seat, clamp your throat down, be mum, be "dignified" like the Pharisees who demanded Jesus stop all that noisemaking his disciples and the people were doing, and risk the same rebuke from the Lord.
Some people are so out of touch with biblical worship it's amazing!
Is there MORE than shouting? CERTAINLY! But just as there is more to parenting than playing with your kids, that doesn't mean we quit playing with our kids "because there's more to parenting than playing." Just so with worship.
Some of us got religion so good we can't help but shout unto God with the voice of triumph. And, sadly, some don't have much to shout about...
|
I never said to forego shouting, now did I? I just said that outward antics don't attract the attention of God, but the condition of our heart does. I most certainly believe in shouting, but I believe it must be understood that just shouting alone, without your heart raised in adoration to the Lord, does no good. You are majoring on the minor point here. I have already said there is nothing wrong with worshiping the Lord in praise, song, dance, etc... and how silly that would be!
My note of caution is pointed toward the other end of the spectrum where the outward antics are not connected with the heart, and instead of worship, it turns into a display of flesh. You can't tell me that being around Pentecost all your life that you haven't seen that happen. Of course, you can't say no more worship because of that - that is crazy too.
You are just trying to ignore my point that there are two ends to this spectrum, and my intent was to point out the need for understanding that just because your flesh is displaying loud worship, doesn't necessarily mean that God is accepting it. If you are moving and shouting in response to loud music, are you worshiping God, or the beat? Just wanting to outline that here.
I will say it again, I love to worship the Lord. But the volume of my voice is not a necessary indication of how deep my love and worship for Him is.
