Your brother flew the coop before I could say anything to him, but I got several pics, and once, he passed right by me.....I think I even got some holy spit in my hair!!!
He preached a great message about the gift of quietness, and how, just like we do our children when they need us because they are scared or frightened, we hush them...in a different way than we hush them when they are getting on our nerves. He spoke about how God gets close to us and it calms us.
I just wish I could apply that to myself. I have difficulty applying anything that has to do with a father's love to myself, as I never had one.
It was a great message all the same, however. I wish I could have went a couple more services. I plan on getting a couple DVD's though.
HO--
Just PLEASE tell me he didn't preach about holy hair at your camp!!! I don't know where he stands on this issue, but I'm praying for him.
HO did you pray through at the campmeeting ? HA HA HA

There they can find plenty of fault.
I don't recall ever hearing him preach anything even close to a standards message in any service I've ever attended of his.
Which is cool. I think he has better things to preach about than 'holy hair' anyway.
Thursday night. First let me say that he is one of my all time favorite preachers. I have heard him numerous times and he has always been good. However - - - I was shocked at some of the things in his Thursday night message - but to be fair, after everything I've just been through, I do look at things with a new perspective. ANYWAY, his message was titled "Stay out of the Woods." And excellent message in and of itself. If I take it from the perspective of "Get with God and stay with God" it was great. And I know that is what he meant, but he is in the UPC, so to him, UPC is it and the only it. :-) So he said that sometimes people get confused because their pastor won't let them play sports but the pastor down the road lets his people play sports. He said that was because the one pastor was standing at the edge of his woods and has found it's not safe, while the next pastor is standing at the edge of HIS woods and has checked it all out and found it to be safe. The reason I disagreed with this statement is because if it were bible, it would not change from pastor to pastor. The word of God never chages. Anyone can make anything their god, and it has to be on an individual basis. Maybe sports aren't safe for some people and it is for others, but that's between them and God. Stealing? Wrong for everyone. Adultery? Wrong for everyone, that's in the book, etc. My pastor said Sunday morning, "My goal in life is to speak to you the word of God, so you and God can work it out." That's a preachers job, speak the Word of God. Again, I'm not criticizing him, because he's still one of my favorites, and I know he's sincere, I just don't agree.

If that's as close he come to a standards message, that's wonderful.....LOL!
I hope he lasts without ever coming closer.
I agree with your statement that standards wouldn't change from pastor to pastor, and they do....even with hair, clothing, jewelry, and makeup....hey...men are free to do whatever though! LOL!
