Mods and libs are not "in control."
We are still a very, very, very, conservative and traditional organization.
Anyone who thinks the UPC became lib overnight is delusional.
Their are certain ideologies deeply entrenched in us - a way of thinking that is woven into the fabric of our cognitive processes.

I would hope the new TV spots for sale don't have the effect of the UPC going lib overnight.
It will be at least 6 months.

Never more truer words spoken.
Telling in many statements of where their security lies, if people are shaken over this what will happen when Apostasy really happens.

ok, first of all, a "liberal UPC" person is a UC in the grand scheme of things...
What I'm saying is the people who are going to want to search people's houses for television sets and blacklist as many peopel as possible aren't in control (and, seemingly, are on thier way to leaving en masse)...
The UPC will not turn to liberal because there are few, if any, true liberals in the UPC... We're going to be liberal compared to how we have traditionally been, but not in the grand scheme of things...

Pardon my ignorance, but is the resolution solely for advertising or will it be permissible for UPC churches to have services broadcast on TV? I thought I read that on another thread.

Well, the resolution is so vague, that the time of the "ad" isn't limited, so it could very well be an hour long "infomercial" with singing, preaching, etc. and still fall in line with the terms of the resolution.

Me 2; I think Daniel called it the Witch Hunt Resolution, and for once...I agree with him.

MIssB,
The resolution is not vague at all.
The only thing forbidden is having an unaltered tv in your home.
All forms of ads and preaching are acceptable. No time limits at all.
Men could own tv stations now.

SO, the ad might be stretched to be an actual church service.
Thanks.
