Why would you be attacked though? Each person has to answer to God for their own actions. Not only that, God knows which actions that might be fine for me and never cause me to stumble would cause you to stumble, or worse, fall. I'd much rather say I'm not so sure about something and avoid it than jump in and stumble.

I also think what one believes, in this regard, matters a lot. If you believe that reading or watching these things you're opening yourself up to spirits, you probably are by watching or reading them. The devil won't turn down any invitation he can get ahold of. (disclaimer..I'm not saying you're inviting him anywhere..but if you feel that by reading Harry Potter you're opening yourself up to spirits, the devil wouldn't be opposed to using that as an invitation if you do then read them)

I know that I will get attacked for what I just said, but it is my opinion.

I think this whole thing is a bit ridiculas. It would be like one of the old writers of the Lone Ranger series coming out and revealing that the Lone Ranger and Tonto were really secret lovers. Totally nonsensical.

Actually the Lone Ranger got pretty upset when he was an old man and reading in an Indian encyclopedia what "Kemosabe" REALLY meant.

"Kemosabe = Hind end of a horse."
Old Lone Ranger -'What the hey?!"

Thank you Far Side!

But for anybody with an ounce of sense and appreciation for fantasy they are wonderful and have about the same effect regarding witchcraft that Bewitched did in the 60's and 70's.
My daughter is big-time into literature and she is especially interested in fantasy genres. She doesn't read books to get ideas, but for pure entertainment.

She is also an excellent writer herself (speaking of my daughter).

Well, Bewitched was certainly a downfall for me. I can't tell you the countless times my mother told me to clean my room and it didn't happen. My twitching nose just couldn't do the job in the same time frame that it did for Tabitha!!!

Actually, if I want to keep her away from voodoo, magic and casting spells, I'll forbid her from going to UPC ladies' rallies where some gal is dumping her "magic hair" in the offering plate with the prayer requests.
Ouch!

This is what I have always thought about the subject, my family has always been big readers. My daughter is an English Literature major and she has always loved all sorts of literature, including Harry Potter. There was never any question that it was anything but entertainment. In fact, I never could understand why C.S. Lewis was OK to some Christians, but not something like Harry Potter. To me one was just as mystical and unlikely as the other. But great entertainment. I myself prefer murder-mysteries, and as of yet have never felt the urge to be involved in one (murder).

This is outrageous. There is no valid reason for him to be "outed" as gay. Rowlings has an agenda. I loved the Harry Potter movies.
