I have family in the ministry in his neck of the woods and I would consider them conservative. Even they have admitted in a lamenting fashion, to me that he preaches it, and preaches it hard.

Haven't heard him myself for years...his son still preaching?? Sounded ok to me, little different from dad.

BTW, THAT very organization is nowhere near today what it was even 10 or 15 years ago.
But this has been going on for longer than 15 years...what was the problem back then?...this has been ONGOING for over 20 years. It was already present, established and activated long before I arrived to attend CLC in Stockton, CA.

Resolution 4 wasn't on the table then. I just remember our chorale being uninvited to District Events depending on what pastor was hosting the event. We had strict instructions not to wear certain colors, no hair bows or rhinestone barrettes, no open toed or backless shoes, no splits in straight skirts even if they were 3 inches below the knee.

People make a conscious decision to be influenced by particular leaders. I suppose they perceive some sort of "pay-off" for adhering to the dictates of the dictator. I don't mean "pay-off" as in a money pay-off...but pay-off in the sense that a person receives kudos from their peers, or receives a promotion in the district, or they are perceived as being "holier" than less restrictive pastors. There are any number of reasons for feeling the "pay-off."

VM's influence is undeniable...for better or worse. When I meet a VM-ite, I just wonder, what's the pay-off???

Never met him, never even seen him, don't know virtually anything more about him than I see in the revival and rally announcements taped to the fridge in my MILs home, and of course the 20 years worth of source-considered anecdotes.

Are you saying there is a difference in the influence from 15 years ago, and quite possibly those VM ites are different now?

I am not following the point of this discussion and really I would like to...but only because the Denver-KC game is even less exciting.

I want to say that I heard from 3 sources that VM was very respectful in how he address this and said there would be no UPC bashing.

PP was our DS for many years- a great leader he was indeed.
I understand that he is considering leaving too??? I hope this is not so

Thad, I go back to my original statement.

Not to be disrespectful, but does it really matter? If so, how?

What does it matter if they leave or stay? I made the statement earlier that the influence of the men in their generation is fading, therefore, what does it really matter in the grand scheme of things if they leave or stay?

Go back and read Jekyll's post...my last post was in response to his post about pulling the "underguirding" card...
