I totally agree. When I read his post, I was like, “well that’s a first time hearing beards are from the hippies!” I learn something new everyday.

MTD is correct. I have never heard any other reason given for not wearing beards. It makes me wonder if, in another fifty years, we will be saying, “well you know that a hundred years ago, the hippies were into free love, drugs and rock and roll. And they wore beards, so we preach against them so people won’t think we’re rebellious like the hippies”.

What other reason have you heard for preaching against beards?

What other reason have you heard for preaching against beards?
Do you belong to a fellowship that teaches against facial hair?

Yes. It has always been that way wherever I’ve been. It seems like the doctrine may be fading away though.

Facial hair is a bigger talking point in churches that allow it. It rarely even mentioned in amongst solid conservative churches with respected pastors ( say that because there is always the looney preachers out there). My kids are 15 and 19 and really don’t even no what hippies really are or were. Preaching about hippies to this generation they wouldn’t even have a clue what we are talking about.

He really doesn’t teach against it much, but he disapproves of it much. Did that clear it up?

Yah exactly my point. You have probably never heard the hippie reason over the pulpit or even a real deal bible study.

I think it went from being wrong because it was a hippie thing, to being wrong because it’s always been that way (for fifty years). Now it’s like you say. It’s just wrong. The younger people don’t know what a hippie is, much less that they are responsible for the clean shaven doctrine. It’s likely that half of the preachers don’t know why we don’t believe in beards.

Can’t be because Jesus was clean shaven.

You are exactly wrong brother. I have heard it across the pulpit. In a real deal Bible study and otherwise.
