in the study of women I have always admired this scripture:

New American Standard Bible (©1995)
and he began to speak out boldly in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.
GOD'S WORD® Translation (©1995)
He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him home with them and explained God's way to him more accurately.

King James Bible
And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

American Standard Version
and he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more accurately.

Bible in Basic English
And he was preaching in the Synagogue without fear. But Priscilla and Aquila, hearing his words, took him in, and gave him fuller teaching about the way of God.

Douay-Rheims Bible
This man therefore began to speak boldly in the synagogue. Whom when Priscilla and Aquila had heard, they took him to them, and expounded to him the way of the Lord more diligently.

Darby Bible Translation
And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. And Aquila and Priscilla, having heard him, took him to them and unfolded to him the way of God more exactly.

English Revised Version
and he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more carefully.

Tyndale New Testament
And the same began to speak boldly in the Synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila had heard him: they took him unto them, And expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

Weymouth New Testament
He began to speak boldly in the synagogue, and Priscilla and Aquila, after hearing him, took him home and explained God's way to him more accurately.

Webster's Bible Translation
And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: Whom, when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him to them, and expounded to him the way of God more perfectly.

World English Bible
He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside, and explained to him the way of God more accurately.

Young's Literal Translation
this one also began to speak boldly in the synagogue, and Aquilas and Priscilla having heard of him, took him to them, and did more exactly expound to him the way of God,

Acts 18:2 And he found a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, having recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to leave Rome. He came to them,
Acts 18:18 Paul, having remained many days longer, took leave of the brethren and put out to sea for Syria, and with him were Priscilla and Aquila. In Cenchrea he had his hair cut, for he was keeping a vow.

Acts 18:25 This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he was speaking and teaching accurately the things concerning Jesus, being acquainted only with the baptism of John; (NASB ©1995)

Geneva Study Bible
And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the {o} way of God more perfectly.

(o) The way that leads to God.

People's New Testament

18:26 Expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly. In my opinion Apollos' position was about that of the disciples of the Lord before the Great Commission was given. He had the gospel in part, but needed to be shown the way of the Lord more perfectly. Aquila and Priscilla supplied this needed, and equipped him for gospel work.

Wesley's Notes

18:26 He spake - Privately; and taught publicly. Probably he returned to live at Alexandria, soon after he had been baptized by John; and so had no opportunity of being fully acquainted with the doctrines of the Gospel, as delivered by Christ and his apostles. And explained to him the way of God more perfectly - He who knows Christ, is able to instruct even those that are mighty in the Scriptures.

Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary

26. speak boldly in the synagogue, whom when Aquila and Priscilla heard—joying to observe the extent of Scripture knowledge and evangelical truth which he displayed, and the fervency, courage, and eloquence with which he preached the truth.

they took him unto them—privately.

and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly—opening up those truths, to him as yet unknown, on which the Spirit had shed such glorious light. (In what appears to be the true reading of this verse, Priscilla is put before Aquila, as in Ac 18:18 [see on [2051]Ac 18:18]; she being probably the more intelligent and devoted of the two). One cannot but observe how providential it was that this couple should have been left at Ephesus when Paul sailed thence for Syria; and no doubt it was chiefly to pave the way for the better understanding of this episode that the fact is expressly mentioned by the historian in Ac 18:19. We see here also an example of not only lay agency (as it is called), but female agency of the highest kind and with the most admirable fruit. Nor can one help admiring the humility and teachableness of so gifted a teacher in sitting at the feet of a Christian woman and her husband.

Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary

18:24-28 Apollos taught in the gospel of Christ, as far as John's ministry would carry him, and no further. We cannot but think he had heard of Christ's death and resurrection, but he was not informed as to the mystery of them. Though he had not the miraculous gifts of the Spirit, as the apostles, he made use of the gifts he had. The dispensation of the Spirit, whatever the measure of it may be, is given to every man to profit withal. He was a lively, affectionate preacher; fervent in spirit. He was full of zeal for the glory of God and the salvation of precious souls. Here was a complete man of God, thoroughly furnished for his work. Aquila and Priscilla encouraged his ministry, by attendance upon it. They did not despise Apollos themselves, or undervalue him to others; but considered the disadvantages he had laboured under. And having themselves got knowledge in the truths of the gospel by their long intercourse with Paul, they told what they knew to him. Young scholars may gain a great deal by converse with old Christians. Those who do believe through grace, yet still need help. As long as they are in this world, there are remainders of unbelief, and something lacking in their faith to be perfected, and the work of faith to be fulfilled. If the Jews were convinced that Jesus is Christ, even their own law would teach them to hear him. The business of ministers is to preach Christ. Not only to preach the truth, but to prove and defend it, with meekness, yet with power

GOD'S WORD® Translation (©1995)

It would seem if Paul thought a woman could not teach the way the Bible would say only the man instructed...but it uses the word they instructed...

The church building as we know it did not exist but the church did..churches were in homes, meeting places, market places and even in the catacombs...It seems to me Paul thought a lot of Holy Prisca that preached the gospel. Enough to mention her name before her husbands name in several passages of scripture (not common in those days and not real common today) She must have been an outstanding women...well versed in the law...Some writers have mentioned she may have written the book of Hebrews..I don't know but I do know she was able to sit with her husband and teach a man the gospel.

My wife ministered to me today she cooked beef ribs-potato salad-baked beans and a great time was had by all. I would write that on a catacomb wall.

Ahh, but it was your husband's desire to have pizza, that's what spared you and hopefully you staved off the robbers.

Thank you dear friend. Many forces fight us in this dark devil worshipping world..but we know Greater is he that is in us...
The police are all on strike in our state and we have been trying to get a police report for Michael's car since it was stolen...One police lady called me today and asked me to meet her at 2 our time and hopefully she can fill out the papers. They cannot not even look for a stolen car without the papers...and because of strikes I doubt if they will even look for it!

Our state really needs real missionaries the night is thick and dark..OH for more voices to tell the story.

In all our talk about women/women in ministry I would like for you to please note I am not saying in any way I do not believe that God has certain roles for men and women because I do.
I have mentioned several times I never heard GOD call me to preach but my thoughts and opinion are different from most. I have never been ordained by man and never plan to be.
My pastor is a man and I don't plan to change. YET in the overall plan of God many notable women have done God's work and fulfilled a divine purpose and against these I will never lift my voice. I stand in awe of great women for they had to do much to be considered great...I stand in awe of Sister Bobbie Wendell, Sister Agnes Holmes and other ladies (notice I said ladies) that have gracefully used the Bible as God's word and not a book to condemn men.

I have sat in meetings when men laughed and sneered at women just to make a point with some man made organization. I want no part of politics...it destroys...many good men and women have been destroyed by peer pressure by things that were so childish. Give a christmas present not give one, take a asprin not take one, ladies hair up, hair down and we ourselves in such sincerity have fallen into MORE SPIRITUAL THAN THOU" traps in our younger days...
Men are stong and I love the srength that our church feels from Brother Alvear. Women we are more sensitive...we see details while men seem to see the whole picture. God MADE us different to help one another...
I have seen preachers that their wife never prayed in the alter, she just sat there...he did everything...that seems a little out of balance to me. I have an office in our church and so does Brother Alvear my office is more than for hanging roses and pretty pictures on the wall. I am there to help Brother Alvear. We are workers together with Him that called.

More later gotta go to the police station...
