Let's see, if someone says something about seeing L.E. Westberg (or some other "patron saint" of the UPC, and I were to post a picture of a snake laying in the grass, and say that I see snakes all the time, I guess I would not have actually said that he was a snake, so it would be okay...
I learn something new every day!
HA! Good one!
Btw, go ahead and post the snake pic...it fits well....

Do you greet your fellow church members with a holy kiss???
Don't you agree that the command to do so was divinely inspired??
Pucker up!
Or how about Paul's words that clearly say "its good for a man not to touch a woman"...
Yet male preachers "touch" women all the time when they pray for them.
How about taking ALL of Paul's "divinely inspired" words literally and keep your hands off the women??? The only exception being your OWN WIFE!
1 Corinthians 7:1-9
1 Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.
Or how about the part where Paul says it would be better for all men to remain as he was...SINGLE! Do you preach this at all? Afterall, ALL of Paul's words are "divinely inspired" and therefore should be preached IN FULL. You shouldn't just preach the "marriage is allowed if you can't contain" part.
6 But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment. 7 For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that. 8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. 9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.
What a joke some of this discussion is...good grief.

And how about we put this "ELDER" stuff to rest once and for all shall we?
ELDERS are both MALE and FEMALE according to scripture.
1Ti 5:1 Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren;
1Ti 5:2 The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.
1Ti 5:17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
1Ti 5:19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.
Strong's Number: 4245
Original Word Word Origin
presbuvtero comparative of presbus (elderly)
Transliterated Word
Presbuteros 6:651,931

King James Word Usage - Total: 67
elder 64, old man 1, eldest 1, elder woman 1
You can NOT prove that those that "labour in the word and doctrine" were only male.
You can't pick and choose parts of the definition and say "Oh well the women were just "old women" while the men were the ones holding office". You have no scriptural support for your picking and choosing.
Scriptural support - what a novel idea!
