I like Mike, and I think he knows that, but I feel like I'm watching a slow motion train wreck unfolding in front of me.

At this point I feel like the best thing we can do is just pray, Bro Epley. As long as there's life, there's hope. God didnt give up on us, so we cant give up on our brothers and sisters either.

I certainly will pray for him but he must pray himself. His self-destructive mentality will accomplish it's goal.

Bro. Epley,

I could feel the spiritual authority you said your statement with. Although we may disagree on some issues, I completely agree with your post concerning the fact that 1399 has fallen into a spirit of delusion.

I am concerned that a person would be so gullible they think they could 'join' a Trinity church and be rapture ready. That is a spirit of delusion. I will certainly pray for their recovery from this wicked spirit.

I'm not living there right now, but that's another story.

Anyway, I've attended several services there and have enjoyed them. I spoke with the Pastor and he told me that he baptized folks, "in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost in Jesus Name" so as to be agreement with all scriptures concerning baptism.

I don't see this as compromising the truth of God's Word.

What do you all think?
I think (not that what I think matters) you should follow what the Lord leads you to do. I don't know your circumstances and/or situation, in fact, I know next to nothing about you. I do believe that, as a Christian, you desire to please the Lord, and you should do exactly that, by following His leading.

Whether or not the Lord is leading you in this decision, I can't say. And, I wouldn't be able to say until I know the conclusion of the matter. A prophet was ordered by God to marry a prostitute. Peter was told to "slay and eat" forbiden meats. (Please don't think I'm referring to the CODIC brethren as such!). But the point is... sometimes we are led to what seems to be irrational and illogical. I'll not presume to try to tell you what to do... except to pray for you that you will follow the Lord's leading and that the end results will be that the Lord is pleased.

I knew a brother once who was asked to pastor a small Methoidist church. He informed them of his beliefs and they didn't withdraw the offer. He accepted and that church is now a thriving Jesus Name church.

I'm reminded of these words from the Book of Esther:

"Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" Est 4:14

There is a great difference between pastoring a church and leading them into truth than JOINING a false church and supporting false doctrine.

Re: COGIC - Baptism in Jesus Name

Yes there is a big difference. And there is also a big difference in knowing a brother is following the leadership of the Lord or not. I know neither, so I can just pray God blesses him as he is led of the Lord.

I can imagine the conversation in the boat as Peter was about to step out on the water at the Lord's command. "Peter, are you crazy!?!" "You're gonna step out ther just because HE said so?" "Why, its scientifically impossible for a man to walk on water!" Besides, theres no Bible for it!"

But, what those men didn't know (or didn't want to accept) was that Peter was following the Lord's leading. And... well... you know the rest of the story. I know...he sank...just bear in mind the end of the story!)

Listen, I'm not encouraging the brother to join a COGIC- or any church for that matter. I'm just encouraging Him to have the mind of Christ in the matter. I attend Baptist churches on occasion and I don't support their "false doctrine". Who's to say this brother will? I can't voice my opinion on his decision because I don't have the mind of Christ on that decision, nor do I know his circumstances. But what I will not do is call a brother disallusioned because I disagree iwth something he decides to do. If that were the case, you all are disllusioned and so am I!

Re: COGIC - Baptism in Jesus Name

*sigh* I myself have a close friend in Charlotte NC that left the Apostolic Church and joined a COGIC church. Granted, this COGIC church has some good church but as we all know their beliefs dont line up with that of the Apostolic Church.

I second Bro. France statement (and in the words of Bishop C.E. White) as long as there is life there is hope.

The trinity is nothing, the trinity is NOT GOD, it is a false god, and in churches like the Catholic or Orthodox there are statues and/or icons, which are really just idols. You can not just go into one of those false churches and be alright. It's not right OneAccord, there's no way around it.
