You probably wonder where Benincasa got his book of insults. You are second to him in the bad attitude department. Now I get it - you're a preacher, Benincasa is a preacher, you both are on JP, you don't want St. Mark knowing what goes on at JP................................................ ...................................it must be the rude, backslidden preachers forum. A true man of God could never hurl insults as much as you and Benincasa.

Hey folks! Listen up! Another candidate for the "Hooked on Phonics" Christmas mailing lilst.
I did not sign up on JP to go read the responses. I signed up on JP the week it started some time back. Duh!

Just a question?
Is it against the rules for a member of JP to copy something from there and send to someone?
I know someone has done this in the past to me when I've been mentioned. Just this week matter of fact.
I know it use to be a big deal here when someone was mentioned that wasn't on here to defend themselves.

But then, his usual mode of operation with someone who he doesn't care for is illustrated on this thread: just hurl one infantile insult after another.
George, you hit it on the head. Ford and Benincasa have a lot in common.
Both fancy themselves having rapier-like wit - which fools a lot of simpletons when in reality their posting styles when they think they are combating some heathen are really nothing but lame, warmed over palaver.
If you could buy them both for what they're worth and sell them for what they think they're worth, you'd make Bill Gates look like the Little Match Girl.

Our overall problem in the defence of tradition is not that our traditions are indefensible, but that we refuse to acknowledge that we have traditions.
A statement of Scriptural truth demands a level of defence that is not necessary in the defence of a tradition, but we have traditionally had a lot of difficulty in admitting a distinction between our truths and our traditions.
Unfortunately, our failure to acknowledge our own traditions has stolen our ability to recognize and respect the traditions of groups with whom we differ.
You use “ole time pentecost” as a pejorative term, and in some cases it may be, but I rather like the term in that it expresses that we have been around long enough to have a past, and proven ourselves resilient enough to have a future. We do need to take an honest look at our traditions, and to discard those that have lost meaning in a modern world, but the truths that form the foundation of ‘ole time Pentecost” will out last both the traditionalist’s stammering defence and the critic’s acerbic pen.
Pentecost has a past, but it also has a future.
Our knee may not genuflect to the same traditions as our forefathers, but our hearts will blaze with the same passion for Pentecost.

My understanding is that the rules state not to do so. Not sure how you can really enforce it beyond folks having integrity. I do know that anyone who is a member is not to give their password to others. (Yes, it's a conspiracy to keep the cloak and dagger of old time Pentecost going. If only ya'll knew the diversity there.)

I agree with the majority of this. Further, you will look long and hard to see where I have entered into many "standards" ( re old time Pentecostal traditions). But somehow folks get a perception, and well, you know...need HOP.
