I remember learning that Psalm in grade school...A beautiful verse.

My dear travelers keep your heart pure and clean...learn to love and forgive. Learn to pray and wish your enemies well...doing this you will be protecting yourself and saving your own soul.

Just because minister "A" is open about it, why does that make him worse than minister "B" that does the same thing, but doesn't talk about it?

Most often is not about God.
It is about their own image...

The only thing wrong with the movie theatre is the price of the popcorn!
That reminds me.
I watched this elderly couple one time.
Take their large popcorn bucket back up to get the free refill.
They were sitting around the corner with a large garbage bag.
They were arguing about who would go up next and get the refill.
When I stumbled on them they had the bag almost full.
In reality they have about a $500.00 garbage bag full of popcorn.
After we got out of our movie.
We watched as the bus load of seniors walked into the theatre.
The old cats were handing out bags of popcorn to the oldtimers....
I never laughed so hard in my life....

This doesn't make any sense, because the video store you go into to rent your family movie is filled with all kinds of movies, which may exude the same spirit.

I understand, but the minister that told me that died before most UPC folks were going to the video stores, although there were a few out there then.
It is hard to imagine after being raised in the UPC to go to nearly every home and they have a TV. Back in the day, almost unheard of. Although, I know some that hid them in their closet.

Mark, without realizing it, you've hit the nail right on the head here.
I notice you didn't say they looked very holy, or godly, or modest, you said "they look very UPC".
This is all that matters to many people, not that it's Biblical, but that their appearance is in line with the organization's standards.
This is why they don't need scripture to back up their beliefs, or can even misinterpret scripture to back them up.
I can't count the times as a kid when I'd ask "WHY" we didn't do certain things, I was told "It's against our religion".

That was our answer.
