Re: FEAR FACTOR: Pentecostal/Apostolic Style
The real crux of the matter is that any new "revelation" should not negate The Truth. What some see as the problem is that often when methods change the message gets changed to match the method. That is a big mistake. Methods need to change to reach an ever changing World, but the Message is eternal.

If you disagree with that analisys........please enlighten me as to what pieces yet remain...........this is a serious question. What new "revelation" has/will brought/bring us in alignment with the teaching of the Apostles, and the early church?

Re: FEAR FACTOR: Pentecostal/Apostolic Style
Wow, I'm blown away by some of these post.
Maybe we should define what revelation means.
In my opinion I think revelation is God showing you something in His Word that you have missed. It doesn't have to be a "new" doctrine. To say we have all the Truth still blows me away. I don't believe we do. I believe we have the truth for salvation, but I believe there is more Truth to be understood in His Word. Otherwise, why do we keep studying His Word if we already know it all?
But for some I think they have to pass the "revelation" test:
1. Was it a man that gave it and not a woman? Many don't believe God speaks to women, so they only accept it from a man.
2. Was it from a respected elder? Some don't receive anything from a young man or woman.
3. Was it a friend of theirs they know? I agree with know those who labor among you, but I also believe in using the discerment of the spirit to allow God to confirm to you if it be from Him or not. Your friends can miss it also.
4. Was it from a UPC licensed minister? If not, most want buy into as being from God.
Saying all the above, I also have to say BEWARE of a strong spirit of delusion that has been sent forth into our churches. We MUST have the gift of discernment to know where the spirit be of God or not.

Re: FEAR FACTOR: Pentecostal/Apostolic Style
I think I can say and be safe that HIS WORD is forever settled in heaven...and there are NO new revelations. The plan of salvation has been given we cannot add or take from...
It is true that we may understand more...light on certain subjects may grow brighter...but to run with some new revelation...I question that.

I agree but until you understand it. When you do it is a revelation to you is it not?

How can we say there is no new revelation. Do we honestly know all there is of His Word?

The problem is when one recieves a personal "revelation" and has the gumption to go out on his own and start an org. I believe it is Jehovah's, Islam, that I know of off hand were both started by a single individual who simply did not like what the preacher was preaching.

I do believe we as individuals can and do have "revelations" as we mature spiritually. Not new revelations to the whole but in our walk in the Spirit.
If ALL things were known at infilling, would there be a need for iron to sharpen iron ?
