Update on the last remote village visit Sunday evening:
This is a faithful pastor who has been there for over 7 yrs. Most of the people in the village, with the exception of the pastor have never seen a white man/woman. The pastor has not wanted white missionaries in because of a bad reputation they have as charlatans and controllers. It was a real step of faith for him to invite us and I honored him greatly for his invitation.
Everywhere we go, the pastor mentions that there were 6 months without rain until the moment we arrived in Tuni! This pastor also mentioned that the power had gone on and off for about 20 times before our arrival and stayed on all the way until the service was finished and then went off. God orchestrated those things for their benefit, not mine. But it does give you a little insight as to how steeped in tradition these cultures are and how they think at times. I actually am getting the feeling that these folks are more interested in my presence in their churches and my touch/prayer/blessing than they are my words due to their high regard.
Different cultures are amazing things, indeed!

Like my FOOD update?
I've had a lot of different things mostly with curry. Some REALLY spicy and most not. It's not the spicy I'm concerned about..it's what might be in the food. Been drinking ONLY bottled or filtered water, so not sure what I picked up, But I SURE hope I'm OK by morning!! LOL!

Here's a pic of the saris laid out for us to walk on as I mentioned before. I mistakenly called them sarongs. Oops! Completely different as most will know! If they were wearing sarongs, it would not be good in this culture!

Yeah, the curry sounds great, but mushroom soup and subway sandwiches? We have those.
You really must take the native food in consideration when planning these "they need Jesus" trips! Ya know, Italy is entrenched firmly in the grasp of icon worship and extreme Catholicism... GREAT wood fired bistros in every city and good water too!

Let it be understood that Apostolic Friends Forum is an Apostolic Forum.
Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
- There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
- The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
- Every sinner must repent of their sins.
- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
- The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Extremely receptive. I have to keep it simple. Tomorrow I will begin teaching my Jewish Roots seminar for 3 days. I taught summarized version in the 1 Day pastor's conference and they ate it up! Especially when I starting putting the tallit on people and then the teffilin and have them put mezuzzahs together and blow the shofar etc. We have a really good time!
